I just bought Neutrogena's Pore Minimizing Toner because I have giant pores and oily skin. But what is all around purpose of toner? Am I supposed to use my moisturizing lotion before or after the lotion?

Use toner after you wash your face and before you put on lotion.
Toners soak up extra oil and also removes leftover soap residue from washing. These are things that clog your pores, hence the "pore minimizing" name.
If you use toners however, don't buy ones with high alcohol content. These ones just dry up your skin and can really make it worse.
I use Clinque's 3-step toner, and there are some good 100% natural options too.

Toner is designed to relevel the PH balance of your skin to normal.
All toner is pore minimizing, that's the whole idea. Marketing..ahhh...

Oh. So they're kind of like an Oxy pad? I noticed the major ingredients were water, alcohol, glycolic acid and witch hazel and kind of wondered if I was getting ripped off.

i use the estee lauder one in a tall aqua bottle. i cant remember the name but it works really well. ive been using it for ages.

here it is sparkling clean. then i pair it with daywear plus. i highly recomend it.

Toners also prepare your skin to accept the moisturizer you put on afterwards.

^ I didn't kno that...nice.
I don't think it's the same as oxy pads...I think they're more meant for clearing up pimples b/c of their acid. They (and anything else w/alc) can be drying, too. I use nuetrogena alc free toner.
Toner is used after washing and before moisturizing. It's suppose to help balance the skin. It's best used for combination skin.

i loooove witch hazel.

Toners are overpriced IMHO. Make a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and water, and apply it as a toner after washing. It will stink for about a minute but then the smells fades. Works much better than that fancy stuff, and it's cheaper.

Ohhh, and you should ALWAYS use all three: cleanser first, toner second, moisturizer last. Depending on your skin type you might use DIFFERENT types of these but you should always use ALL of these because they all do different things necessary for your facial skin.
