    Default My Interesting Diet Plan....

This was kind of inspired by the Crash Diet thread, and partly inspired by the fact that I got on the scale today and was HORRIFIED to see that I am sadly officially disgustingly fat. I'm up to 126,my heighest weight ever... (I'm only 5'2")

UGGHH. And my jeans are getting tight, I will be FUCKED if I have to buy a bigger size.

So, bought all the goodies at the store today, and I am committing to at least trying it for two weeks and see what happens...

*disclaimer, I know this isn't healthy, but oh well, I'm giving it a shot anyway*

So, I'm going to try to do about 600 calories a day with food, more if I am really hungry. Also, I like to have a glass of wine or two when I'm either at work or at home on NF to loosen up. So I'm allowing 200 calories for that as well.

    I bought:

    Carrotts
    Celery
    Lettuce
    Tomatoes
    Cucumbers
    Tuna
    Fat Free Hot Dogs
    Cambells Light Soup
    Lipon cup of soup
    EggBeaters
    Ramen
    Light Protien Shakes

Basically, I'm going to try to eat 6 meals a day, ranging from 50-200 calories in each meal.

    For instance, sample day

Wake Up: have coffee and go for a quick run
Breakfast: 3 servings of eggwhites (105 calories)

Snack: 8 carrot sticks with mustard (40 calories)

Lunch: Tuna with hot sauce (90 calories)

Snack: Small salad with FF dressing (60 calories)

Dinner: Ramen noodles, half of the noodles only (190 calories)

    Snack: Protien Shake (90 calories)

So, that's like 585. Let's say that I go to work and have to glasses of wine, it puts it at about 750, which is a LOT less than I've been eating lately, let me tell you (I've probably been at around 2000)

i did a diet like that a looong time ago but it was 400 cals a day. it was actually way easier to stick to than just trying not to eat at all. or eating one meal.

i lost alot of weight, but i had alot of problems then and was really crazy in the head for a while because of it. even though it worked the emotional stress i had because of it was so not worth it.

Good luck losing the weight for the wedding and if you find yourself getting hungry, keep munching on crunchy things. I don't think you could have too many crunchy veggies and it'll still keep your metabolism up. For me, when I drink, I need to eat (mostly junk too) so hopefully you won't be the same way with two glasse of wine. You should also drink a lot of water - you might bloat up at first but it'll be gone by the time the wedding rolls around.

Thanks for the tips you two!

Yeah, if I am hungry I will eat some extra veggies...I don't think you can have too many either.

I'm allready a 2 liter of water a day drinker, but I will keep that up as well!

I'm shorter than you and weigh significantly more. This thread made me feel sad.

A number doesn't tell you how fat you are. You weren't any thinner 3 seconds before you got on the scale and you weren't any fatter the second it weighed you.

People should just throw out their scales. When it comes to health and size, they fucking tell you NOTHING.

Ever thought about eating more and working out more? Much healthier in the long run.

While I know that's true, if you look at your pictures VS my pictures I look significantly heavier than you. I'm not particullarly muscular and I have a small frame and you have tons of muscle!

I know that excercise vs healthy eating are def. the way to go in the long run, but I'm really motivated to do a drastic change and see some results, esp for this wedding...

I worked out every day for two weeks an ate fish and vegetables to my fill each day and even though I didn't lose physical weight, I did lose a LOT of mass (this is while I was gone, so I don't have any new pics). My wrists are even thinner and I can wrap my fingers around my elbow now. I did gain 3 kilos, hahaha, all numbers man, just numbers.

All it took was two weeks of dedication and now I'm down to simple gym 2-3x a week and a slightly worse diet but the effects are there and they were drastic and quick. I definitely lost a full size almost everwhere, including my legs.

It is healthier in the long run and you should still see results quickly!

How long are you planning on doing this? 600 on food is an extremely low number, I'd shoot for higher than that. You're body kicks into starvation mode when you dip that low, and it can really fuck with your metabolism. You can lose weight on a higher amount of calories- if you have time, really, exercise is the way to go, like has been mentioned.

I'm 5'2'', and have lost fat and inches in two weeks on a diet that was healthy and clean (mostly whole foods, little processing) and was averaging 1300 cals (and I felt even that was too low, so I upped it and now have more energy). A few days I went over 2000. Some I dipped under 1300, on accident because I was busy. No additional exercise. Worked for me.

I do have a REALLY slow metabolism. I think normally to maintain my weight of 120, about 1800 cals a day does the trick with excercise...

I'm just looking for a quick jumpstart to some weightloss...I'm really motivated to make a dramatic change for the next couple weeks, and I plan on after that introducing an extra 100 calories per week to my diet til I get up to 1200 cals/day and then staying on that til I get down to my goal weight of 110.

I'm going to be real honest here and say would you like an eating disorder or develop unhealthy eating habits? Because eventhough you know this is unhealthy its absolutely sickening to see you post your "diet". All that soup is a sodium farm and you'll bloat anyway. This isn't a detox diet or safe quick weight loss; it's a fucked up way of eating and you know this.

I hate to see people support extremely unhealthy diets around here. It's sick and its sad to see someone want to do this to themselves. At least eat 1,000 calories a day that's the bodies absolute minimum to sustain proper body functions.

I just can't believe people are supporting you to eat 600 calories a day!!!!???

Seriously! I ate 600 calories for dinner!

Especially the ramen noodles-At least get some whole wheat noodles to eat and mix in some veggies or something. Put some bread around that tuna. There's almost zero healthiness to your diet plan. Fat free and light food will totally bloat you and are not the healthiest of things. Plus you'll be totally bitchy in a few days from lack of nutrition.

I'm not offended, I'm just worried. If you're going to try this please stay hydrated. And realize you might get wasted off those two glasses of wine, with no buffer in your belly. Really though, I think you can lose 6 lbs in 3 weeks without starvation by more exercise and a slight reduction in calories.

    If I may.....my sweet.....

Be careful with the Ramen. Although relatively low cal/low fat.....they are packed with an insane amount of sodium. Most of it comes from the flavor packet. I love Ramen and we are super broke right now, so there's always a couple packages of it around. What I do is use only about a quarter of the flavor packet, then substitute with a little black pepper or a few drops of hot sauce. Just do the Ramen in the package. Avoid "Cup-o-noodles" like the plague!
As for the Campbell's light soup....eh. You are wayyyyy better off with the Progresso vegetable soups, the ones that have the little Weight Watchers logo on the front and say "0 points" I recommend the "Italian Style Vegetable" Mmmmmm. The Progressos are way lower in sodium, yummier, more filling, and at 120 calories a can you can live on them and fuckin' shed lbs. like crazy. I did!
Also, you are better off with turkey dogs than the regular fat free dogs. Read the ingredients on the package of those things.....total outer space alien speak. Scary.

Basically, you need to watch your sodium intake. Alot of the foods you have listed are teeming with it. Even tuna! "Bumblebee" brand makes a very-low sodium albacore canned tuna. I switched over to it and it's the only kind of tuna I eat now. It's a little bland compared to the regular but a tiny little splash of pickle juice, a dash of hot sauce and maybe a little mustard makes it nice.

I don't know what your budget it like, but I think you should add Salmon and broccoli to the list. A tame portion of salmon and some steamed broccoli is like the perfect meal. Just a little lemon juice and a touch of a healthy vegetable oil spread on the brocc. This is a meal I have also lost ton of weight eating 2-3 times a week.

I may not know alot but I know how to structure meals to lose weight. I'm 5'7" and at my heaviest point was up in the 150's. I am in the low 120's now. I was below 120 when I was dancing but now that I've hung up my heels I've packed a few back on. MOstly from stress. Some people lose weight from stress, some gain it.

Tigersmilk... yeah, that was kinda my thoughts, but I thought it might be taken if I pointed out that you can lose weight fairly quickly on a much higher level of calories.

The way of thinking, less is more when it comes to calories, is flawed because as TM said, your body NEEDS a minimum amount to survive. If you go under this, your body will start to literally eat itself- not fat, but lean muscle tissue. It goes into ketosis, which is stressful to your body, and produces ketones bodies, the things that make your breath and urine smell like socks. It's really not pretty stuff.

Please read what you'd be doing to yourself:

    http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/...Dont-Work.html

http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/art...i?artid=333231 (this is a study of a STARVATION DIET of 800 cals on obese patients- note that with obesity weight loss is treated differently than those of healthy or even over weights)

http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/art...?artid=2323541 (if you scroll down, you can read what starvation does to your body)

EDITED: not flaming, just worried. been there, done that, would like to see other people take the better road, EVEN IF it's only for two weeks!

I will definitely do my best to stay healthy and will watch the sodium intake, I hadn't really thought about that too much...

You think your metabolism is slow NOW? Just wait until your body starts showing the reprocussions of this 'diet' of yours months/years from now. Your metabolism will be FUCKED. Seriously, a wedding is not worth messing up your body and having weight problems for life.

VP, I second the idea of just working out daily and eating whatever you want. I have lost 10 pounds from JUST doing that and only allowing myself 1 "Drinking Night" a week. My diet consists of fried chicken, soup, and pasta. I lost the weight a LOT quicker than trying to do some damn diet.

You need more healthy fats in there! They actually speed your metabolism, whereas the stuff you listed is likely to slow you down if not balanced.

And yeah... cutting down alcohol, though not fun, always seem to knock off a few pounds...

VP, I will be the first to support low cal dieting for small women, but 600 every day is a bit low. Years ago I lost mad weight doing under 800 week-day and about 1500 week-end. I usually had one or rarely 2 days a week that I only ate about 500 cals (due to an insanely busy day job). It took me from 115 (sz 3) to 95lbs (well below a 0) in just a couple of months.

That being said, for a temporary thing, if you are eating like you posted and taking a good multi, you should be fine. I've known lots of girls who did WAY worse. More than a couple of weeks without a splurge day and then you will start to shock your body and have major issues losing any further weight. Keep up you exercise level while low cal dieting though, if you lose a bunch of muscle then you are screwed and won't lose the sizes, you'll end up the same size, but lighter and flabbier. Not good...

BTW girls - I've actually had Dr's tell me that the 1500 cal rule is bullshit for tiny women. I'm under 5 ft and was told after BOTH kids that under 1000 is fine and under 800 should be ok for short periods. Comparing the cal recommendations of someone who is 5'8" or so to someone 6 inches or more shorter, just isn't reasonable. Very small women can actually GAIN weight on the amounts that taller women consume as part of a reasonable diet plan.... <----- That one is a quote from the last OB.

Like I said, fish and vegetables. Lots of 'em. Screw counting the calories. Steam some bok choy and broccolini with salmon and lemon juice and you have the most delicious nutritious meal heavy with good fats, Omega-3s and vitamins.

I'm not even normally tiny (other than waist - I'm bulky everywhere else). I haven't been able to get my fingers around my wrist for 10 years and I knocked all that stupid fat and toned up eating this plus maintaing a nice workout regimine. IN TWO WEEKS. AND I WAS A BODY BUILDER - I WASN'T SMALL.

With the right diet and excercise you can literally change your body TYPE in a month. And that diet isn't ramen and hot dogs.

You're asking to only get heavier with this diet plan. When you put your body in to starvation mode, especially for two weeks, you're wreaking havoc on your system. When you finally do up your calories, your body will start turning most of those calories directly in to FAT to protect itself. It doesn't take much starvation for our bodies to learn it needs to store every thing we put in our mouth as fat as a defense mechanism.

I second what Lysondra has to say. Eat a very low carb diet (no sugars, pastas, breads) , eat foods with protein and vitamins. (Fish, tofu, nuts, salads, veggies). And exercise daily. Eat 6 small meals a day totalling AT LEAST 1200-1500 calories. Or if you HAVE to eat carbs, eat them early in the day. Drink a ton of water and green tea and take your tonalin CLA.

At 5'3, I think over 1000 calories a day is insane. The poster is still getting almost 800 calories (she said that she is adding wine to her diet) and that if she gets hungry, she will still be eating, but only healthy things so her calorie count might go up slightly. Plus, she is eating throughout the day so I don't really get how her body would starve itself. The only way for me to lose weight is to count calories. It doesn't make a difference how much I work out, if I eat over 1000 calories a day, I gain. When I did Weight Watchers, they kept my calorie count low and told us not to work out when starting it. Even cardio will build muscle so I wouldn't suggest working out anything more than normal for the poster because she might bulk up in the next two weeks.
