Default braiding in dread extensions and elysee star dreads

has anyone attached dread extensions by braiding? if so, is there anything i should know that the internet will not tell me? like will SC smells stick to them like crazyglue?

second, has anyone used the elysee star dreads? if so, can i cut them in half and will they still fold or are they only made to fold at the two foot mark?

if i were you i would buy dreadfalls, then you can just take them in and out as needed

i put permanent dread extentions in my hair once, i didnt follow any general rule on how to do it i just put them in the best i could.

yeah it would be much easier, but i like the way the extensions look

i was looking at this tutorial and it doesnt look any more complex than some of the other things i've done to my hair. i was even thinking i could leave them in for a week then take them out and repeat whenever i want them...as the application doesnt look like it will take anymore than 2hours at the most. i guess there is only one way to find out!

Have someone trained in the Methods handle it!

You can contact them to find someone near you who they've trained. They are the best in dread extensions and dreads in general, hands down. When I had pinch braid extensions, the girl who did them was trained by them, and she had ALBUMS full of the most gorgeous dreads I have ever seen in all sorts of colors and styles.

Hi this is my first post (been lurking for a while!) but seeing as thisis my area of expertise, i thought i'd better post!

I do these type of extensions for a living, so i've braided in/supplied hundreds of sets of dreads. They are easy once you get the hang of it. My suggestion for anyone who hasn't done it before would be:
    Buy at least 5 packs
Section your hair first, making 50 sections (~or more if you buy extra dreads), tie each off with a band. The sections don't need to be small, around half to an inch square as a guide.
Getting the dread in tight to start with is the hardest part, but once you can do that, you're sorted. Start with the sides of your hair, they are much easier.

They can feel very heavy and might give you a sore head for a few days, also they can itch!!
They are washable, but try to avoid the scalp area when doing so.
You can't cut those dreads in half, they will just unravel. You need to order some handmade ones to get shorter lengths.

    Hope that helps!

^thank you yeah i thought they might unravel. i wanted to cut them shorter because the longest layer of my hair is about 2" past my neck and is not visible from the front. my other layers are at my shoulders and the shortest at my chin. my concerns were the extensions looking funny if they are different colors than my hair because my hair is short and the dreads are so long.

To be honest, they cover up most of your hair, it's not unusual for people to have the dreads a differenet colour to their own. The way they are attached allows for one half of the dread to hanfg over the half with the braid.

If you want to see what i mean, look at my webby: scroll to the bottom of the page and it shows the elysee stars installed. There are a couple of pics where they have been shortened but the result wasn't great so i stopped doing them (we had to melt the end that had been cut and it resulted in a hard, scratchy end).

    Hope that helps!

Out of interest, how long does ones natural hair have to be in order to do this successfully?
I have been thinking lately about cutting my hair off (I have dreadlocks) and growing it out into something natural coloured and brushable. If I could maybe keep the dreadlock look in the meantime by doing this that might be the answer to the horrible 'growing our phaze"?

^your hair needs to be long enough to make a braid. my shortest layer is an inch or so above my chin and they still braided in just fine!
