    Gaining weight, eating less?

I am eating about 1200 cals a day now. I've been eating SUPER healthy, mostly raw food- NO animal products.

I've gained about 3 lbs since I started (about 2 weeks ago).

Is this normal? Like, I'm drinking more water and eating more often (smaller portions).....Is it maybe water weight?

I feel like giving it up now.

It might be from the water.. try weighing yourself first thing in the morning.

is it right before your period now? That always does it for me, but I lose it when my period is over.

1200 cals/day is not healthy for most people. your body may be shifting into starvation mode by slowing your metabolism some. you may want to just mix up days you eat 1200 with days you eat 1800 to get things more stable. even pretty sedentary people tend to need more like 1500 cals a day average (but average is key, rather than eating the exact same calorie count each day).

Might be too many carbs for your metabolic profile. If you're more of a fast-oxidizer, zero animal products might not be the way to go if you want to lose weight.

i kinda feel like a broken record here.. but the number on the scale isn't what matters.

^^^ Good point. Grab a tape measure girl and really chart whatever progress you're making.

Lol, YOU feel like the broken record?

If you don't look any different, the scales saying you gained a piddly 3 pounds doesn't matter.

^ haha, i feel like that needs to be made a sticky or something.

"ATTENTION - GIRLS - THE NUMBER YOU SEE WHEN YOU WEIGH YOURSELF MEANS JACK SHIT. OKIE DOKIE? PLEASE POST ACCORDINGLY."

so, soooooo many things can make you "gain weight." like when you gain muscle mass and become more toned, you could weigh more. that doesnt mean you arent losing FAT, though, which is the important part.

i mean, are you actually gaining as in you look bigger/fatter/your clothes are fitting a little more snug? from those 3 pounds?

and please remember as well that our weight fluctuates. you could weigh 120 today and 125 tonight. water weight and other factors change that number on the scale even if you do NOTHING different. it's just.. a fact. weight fluctuates by a few pounds. you probably arent going to get on the scale every single time and see the exact same number.

Gaining muscle is good. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn doing absolutely nothing!!!!!!
