but I'm denying myself because I don't want my $ to disappear.![]()
use henna!
did you used the red or the brown?
how about permanent markers?
Yeah, it sucks that so much of our earning are determined by our appearance. I'd love to have short hair again but won't cut my hair until I finish dancing in case it effects my money. How much longer do you see yourself dancing?
I intend to support myself through my writing within a year or so but I know that it doesn't generally pay decently at all, so I think I'll need to dance here and there to make ends meet for the foreseeable future. Also that industry is tanking.
i always feel like a broken record when it comes to tattoo threads...but.
i have 2 sleeves and tattoos on my neck and other places. i am a top earner at my club. just becuase you get a lot of tattoos doesnt mean you wont make money. your customer base may change slightly, but a lot of guys are intregued by them or dont even give a shit.
sure there were guys that said dont get tattoos but then when i did they still got dances.
its all about confidence.
if i have guys trying to look at me like an art gallery and it gets annoying i tell them my boobs are much more entertaining and then they usually get a dance.
i've just started working on the design for my half sleeve. i can't fucking wait![]()

they effect mine.
i swear i have to tell every single guy with loads of $ that i'm getting the one on my wrist removed. it's not a lie, i am. but i have to tell them because it ALWAYS comes up in conversation negatively.
i'm also in south texas, so maybe that's got lots to do with it.

It's not just about customers' reactions...some clubs (i.e. a lot of upscale clubs) just don't hire girls with sleeves or a lot of tattoos. Depending on what kind of club you want to work at, it might be smart to hold off.
~'A Seven Nation Army Couldn't Hold Me Back'~
i think out of all the clubs i have ever worked at only 2 wouldnt hire me becuase of my tattoos, and both were in myrtle beach.
i used to work in dives but the past 4 years i only work in upscale clubs. im tellign you its all in how you carry yourself. but then if you have tattoo that looks like you got it in jail then i can see how it would count against you but if you have a good artist its not a big deal.
if you want it do it. a half sleeve isnt a big deal especially if you dont have other tattoos. guys just tend from my experiance to not want tattoos on the goods.
no boob crotch or ass tattoos and they seem to be quite ok.
corgan i am curious what is it of?
^^ True, I do think the quality of the artwork makes a tremendous difference in how the work is perceived...crappy jailhouse work looks trashy, as makes sense.
I.breathe.In, I am curious about the upscale clubs...do the ones in NYC, SF and Vegas, for example, hire inked chicks as long as the work is good? And a question to you personally: Do you ever have customers turn you down for a dance because of your tattoos?

Here in Chicago if you have a tat you HAVE to cover itNO way around it since there are limited clubs as there is. ..As in now we have 3. lol
The entire fucking city has 3. Anyways, I'm getting a quarter sleeve but it's going to take time so I figure I"ll take extra matching fabric to my gowns and make it an arm band, so I don't have to deal with the stupid ass makeup you have to cover it with.
The ONLY time in all my years I've seen guys freak out over tats have been when they are of the following:
1. a mans name across a tit, back or anywhere else
2. An RIP jail house style
as damp as a cellar. . . all mildewy I'm as damp as a cellar. . . all mildewy
i am not sure i have only danced in ohio and south carolina.
but no i have never had a guy turn me down becuase of my tattoos, or at least he has never said so. though i rarely get turned down unless someone is broke. (im not trying to sound stuck up) i just put on the smile and charm and get what i want i guess.

it's a skull and crossbones on my wrist. the artist who did it is SUCH a great artist, but like i've said before, i went to him at a time where he wasn't sober. he did a sloppy uneven job. i've gotten 2 removal treatments and it's looking alot better since that, but i am covering it up with an octopus as soon as it gets light enough.
Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping someone who knows about the big cities will shed some light. I do know that the conventional stripper wisdom is that it is frowned upon.
Where I'm working lately I also rarely get turned down for a dance... only happens if the guy is broke or has poor taste.![]()

^ isn't that the case with most of us on sw? lol![]()
i'm finding it really hard to find a good half sleeve design to fit my arm, because my arms are so fucking skinny. i have the scrawniest, most anorexic-looking skeleton arms ever.
i was going to get nanaki from FFVII down my arm, but decided it'll do the design better justice down my ribs.
try and look into something that follows the natural curve of your arm darcy.
and never underestimate your tattoo artist. come up with a general sketch and some referance materials for style color etc. and let him/her collaborate with you.
<--- also worked in 2 tattoo shops
yeah, that's what i've been looking for. i found a really cool fan art pic of jill valentine from resident evil, but it's just too wide for my arm. my arms are seriously like toothpicks.![]()
this is one design i'm considering, but i'm still not sure.
for some reason i'm putting a lot more time and thought and consideration into my half sleeve than i have with my other ink. i guess cos it'll be way more noticeable than all my others.
