Default Breakdown+Doctor+8 pack of Seroquel = Zombie

So about a week ago I had an experience that basically put me in that state of being able to kill someone with my bare hands.

Me, being the responsible patient, called my shrink and asked for an emergency visit.

I got a prescription for 8 Seroquels and I've taken 3 of them. These things are like Xanax with an appetite stimulant added in. WTF?

I saw a commercial talking about "If your loved one died while using Seroquel..." and then that made me freak out more and have another General Anxiety Disorder from hell episode.

Is this stuff safe? I like Xanax...but that's the problem. I like Xanax.

    If that makes sense.

The search I did on SW brought up a lot of sleeping pills thread, nothing Seroquel specific.

    So.....?

(My inet at home is fucking up so I will check this from my phone or at Barnes and Noble)

    Thanks in advance.

Maybe something with a longer half life than Xanax like Klonopin, Ativan or Valium?

My brother was put on Seroquel and hated it....He stopped, citing extreme sleepiness and weight gain. Keep trying.....there are several different other drugs available, you just have to try them.

I take Seroquel, have been for years (8+). 600mg twice a day and then 1200mg at night. It's not for sleep or anxiety though, I'm paranoid schizophrenic. When I first started taking it I was in the hospital but I'm pretty sure I lost a few days from being so high off the stuff. It's never made me gain weight though.

If you don't like the way it's making you feel go back to the doc. I know a lot of different people that totally hate Seroquel and call it the devil, but it works for me for the most part so I keep taking it.

What mg did they give you?

I find this to be a very dangerous drug. I was on it, and it made things worse for me. I talked to my dr. at the time and was told I need to adjust to it.
I was so depressed I looked into how to kill myself with it. I took a dose that was recorded to cause cardiac arrest. It didn't. Instead I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. With several of those days unconscious. When I got out of the hospital I refused to take any more drugs and I have been MUCH better since then. I was lucky not to die from it. I STRONGLY believe that I was improperly medicated for something I just needed therapy for. Don't get me wrong I'm sure there are people that need it. I didn't, and it turned my life into hell for about a year.

The only experience I have ever had with Seroquel was two of my very close friends both with manic depression , bi polar and personality disorders were perscribed it and both of them hated it because they said it made them feel nothing, like they were awake but dead is how they described it.

It did help the one friend when he was in a manic state to somewhat come down from his manic high, but he always ended up in the hospital anyways.

Both people I knew gained large amounts of wieght the longer they took it and both have decided on other courses of treatment because in the end it just did not help them.

I wish you the best though girl and hope you find something that helps you personally.

My psych prescibed me a small dosage of Seroquel at night. This was last year.
I did not notice any weight gain. I did notice it helped me sleep soundly and fast without terribly nightmares. Also I noticed a decrease in my depression.

I believe Seroquel is considered to be an anti psychotic, drug for bi polar patients
    or paranoid schizophrenic patients.
It is NOT for everyone. You probably don't need this, because its a pretty heavy drug. Have you been diagnosed as bi polar?

Goodness...I suck for coming back so late to this thread.

    ginger...wow...I had no idea.

I'm trapped in this investment from hell right now...seriously wanted to kill someone for just being a lazy, careless, lying twit of a person. I'm supposed to be flipping a house and my "play" cousin's husband is doing a little bit of everything illegal out of the house...so of course the neighbors are gonna be yapping about it to any potential renters, etc... and the house has a shit load of issues...like foundation and water damage...costing me tens of thousands of dollars and millions of brain cells due to stress.

I think it was 100mg Seroquels in the pack...but I took a higher dose at my doctors office.

That stuff put me to SLEEP and sent me to the refrigerator. I have never been one to be freakin' narcoleptic and I have never been one to eat cold Stove Top stuffing out of a pot...until Seroquel.

I'm not taking it anymore thankfully. Still a nervous wreck though. But managing.

Yeah, I've known some people who've had this stuff. Mixed reactions.
As with any anti-psychotics or anti-depressants, always make sure to be carefully monitored by your psychiatrist. AND be honest (I've learned that the hard way).

Thanks for the update Amber, glad to see you're alright. (I'm a wreck, too, yay!)
