Default Dont treat service people like something you stepped in please

I witnessed a disgusting ADULT TANTRUM yesterday at a fast food take-out place. A poor young boy - probably about 15 was serving and it was the end of the day and they were really slow at getting people's food. Ok we are not starving people here are we? So there is no need to have a fucking tantrum when your food takes a while to come.

But this pathetic middle aged man had an ADULT TANTRUM and acted like a 2 year old, demanding to see the manager and then berating this poor boy in front of other customers. The boy put his fries on his tray and the man threw them back towards him and said "fill them up properly". It was awful to watch.
I shook my head at the man and he actually looked surprised that I was disgusted by his behaviour.
Then he said to the manager "If I ever come back here and he is working here I will demand to be served by someone else". As he walked off I said to the boy "don't worry about him he is a fuckwit who is taking his miserable life out on you" and the kid said "I dont know what his problem is".

So the cause of all of this? Having to wait a few minutes extra to get his food. He had children with him. I wonder how he would feel when his kids get their first job and someone twice there age treats them so terribly.

It is both unnecessary and extremely pathetic. Two year olds have tantrums when they are hungry and waiting for food. Middle aged people should not act like this.

When did it become acceptable to treat another human being like this?
Not to mention bullying a person who is not in the position to stand up for themselves. These people can't say much when being treated like this because of bullshit policy's such as the customer is always right. Well the customer is not right when they act like a spoiled child and a down right cunt.

I really wish I had have said something to this man but these days I'd be scared he would punch me in the face or something.

No one should think it's ok to be an absolute cunt to a person just because they are in the service industry.

    Rant over.

I'm always nice to servers....& I tipped $20 to our waitress last Sunday because it was my brother's birthday....I wanted to spread the cheer.

(You'd think people would be nice to those who handle their food out of sight...Bwahahahah)

He lies- many people with personality disorders that would cause a public tantrum scene are liars as well. "It's his world, we're just living in it."

Uh, YES. I very much appreciate the people who treat me as a human being along with a service worker. I hate the people who are obviously being snide with the whole " and keep the change" when it's 50 cents....mofo, it took more in gas to deliver this to your fucking house! Obviously you need this 50 cents more than I do...

Must go hand in hand with the idiot who tips a dollar on stage and expects you lavish him in attention for the rest of the night.

These asses really should think of how they're treating the service workers. Who knows, that delivery driver you're belittling could be saving your life as an ER nurse down the line You never know who they'll be later on.

    That is completely awful.
I hope he tripped or something.

But it goes both ways, while I don't think there is any excuse for the type of behavior... service people can have the snidest attitudes towards completely cheerful customers.

As my experince about two weeks ago at a fast food restaurant.. I go in, with my three year old, he's in that just-putting-together full sentences stage so I let him do a lot of his own talking, ordering food, etc... it makes him feel really good. So, he wanted a chicken nugget happy meal... it went something like this:

ME: "Go ahead and tell her what you want, sweetie."
MY SON: "thikken ugga appy mel peeze!"
*cashier rolls her eyes* & doesn't say anything, just pushes some buttons and looks at me like "your turn bitch!"
ME: "Good job, sweetie, what do you want to drink."
MY SON: *inaudible to anyone but me.* lol.
    ME: Hi-C for the drink.
CASHIER: You actually get your OWN drink, the fountain's right there.
ME: Oh, sorry, I didn't see it.
    *cashier rolls her eyes."
ME: Ok, well I'll have blah blah blah.
    CASHIER: $7.50
I pull out my debit card..
CASHIER: Our machines are down right now so it'd be better if you pay cash.
ME: I'm sorry, but I don't have any cash.. can you do it manually?
CASHIER: *rolls eyes* Yeah, but it's really inconvenient!

    ARE YOU SERIOUS?

She SNATCHES my card, does it manually and doesn't even hand it back to me, she throws it on the counter! So hard, that it falls off on my side. WTF?

So fine, I'm sorry if you're having a shitty ass day bit I really don't care. I'm being nice & pleasent..

ME: Wow, it's not my fault you work here.

Take my card, my son, & leave. $7.50 down the drain.

We have a friend who is a retired electrician, and he talks about the low regard many white-collar folks have for tradesmen.

I like the way my girlfriend looks at it. If you have a room full of Ph.Ds, and the lights go out, suddenly it's the electrician who is the genius.

I agree, that is very awful. I always feel like a nerd at work, but even though I'm not making much I STILL take pride in my work and work hard to make my customers happy. My coworkers are always looking at me like "why are you trying so hard for so little pay?" It really does go a long way, especially if they're repeat customers.

Last weekend I went on my first delivery of the day. it was a Sunday and I thought it would suck. It was humid and 110 degrees. But I still marched up to the guys apartment, knocked, and chipperly greeted him and asked how he was doing. He must have liked that (and maybe though I was cute? ) and tipped me $10 on a $27 order.

It makes a world's difference. Treat the customer well. They will treat you well in return (sometimes) and it's really worth it.

Yes it does work both ways. I have had unpleasant experiences with sales people too. One time I went into a store and wanted to try on some shoes. The chick was obviously hung-over coz she still had a stamp on her wrist from a night club LOL and acted like I was causin her an inconvenience by asking her to get some shoes from out the back. She told me that she would have to go out the back, climb up a ladder with a sore ankle to reach them and then bring them out. Umm ok well what did she want me to do go get them myself? i would have if she really wanted coz im just like that LOL. But she was so bitchy about it. When she got the shoes, I tried them on and bought them and she slammed the shoe box down on the counter. She was very unpleasant.

I hate that too Jai! It's like "I'm sorry, am I inconveniencing you by asking you to do your job?"

Because especially with service jobs, even if the pay is shitty, it's STILL a paycheck that many other applicants would love to take off your hands by working their asses off!

Yeah -- fuck that noise! In the club, I'm generally pretty impressed with tradesmen because they understand a day's work. I never get snide remarks from anyone who knows what physical labor looks like, because they can see I'm WORKING. Some office types get that, some don't.

my best custies are tradesman and they are usually really great guys too. I hate suits ITC.

When I used to work in customer service I had this nice old lady come back in one day with a video game that she had bought her grandchild for Christmas. She said the game specified it was suitable for a certain age but it had too much text in it and her grandchild could't understand the game.

Store policy was that if the game had been opened we were not supposed to return it. However whenever we had a sociopath who threw an adult tantrum management would give in and let them return things.

So this old lady was lovely and I said to her I would return the game and just pretend it wasn't opened hehe. She thanked me.

Half an hour later she returned with a small box of chocolates for me. She told me I had made her Christmas becausee she couldnt have afforded to buy another present for her grandchild if she couldn't have returned the game. I was so touched by this.

People love to dump their problems on you and take them out on you because you are servicing them. It's an easy outlet for them. Actually I don't mind if they just need to talk and get something off their chest but I refuse to take abuse. And I have to say there are definately some "special" individuals that come to the school, ones that would be turned away in an upscale salon. I'll be glad when I get my license and I can refuse service to some of the fuckwits the cosmetology school allows to come in.

" If you have a room full of Ph.Ds, and the lights go out, suddenly it's the electrician who is the genius."

And fuck DI's. I hate those arrogant dickheads who haven't read a REAL book in their pathetic life. I was asked to be the photographer at my cousin's wedding. I'm not a "real" photographer or anything but have studied photography a bit and overall I'm a visual person so I agreed to do it because I knew I could get nice pics (they weren't expecting Vogue-quality). So then we're at the party after the church and they had made sitting arrangements and put me in the same table with their same age friends. This one DI, a good friend of the groom, starts to ask me about my education and looks stunned when told that I have no higher education. Then he asks do I know how to use it and have I used a camera like that(professional DSLR cam) before?!!! Yeah, what kind of an idiot would promise to capture someone's big day without any knowledge how. But it seemed to be too much for him that a less/lower educated girl is even allowed to handle a pro camera. He had his little compact cam and watched mine like he had a case of camera-penis envy.
And in nightclubs DI's/suits/white collars are usually always the ones who can't dance and arrogantly think that they're god's gift for women because they're SO SMART even though they can't ever talk about anything else besides work or school and the only movies they've seen are brainless blockbusters and jessica alba is their favourite actress FUCK

Always ready to rant for the working class. Not saying that higher education makes all people stuck up but the ones it does treat other people like shit.

Some fucking grown ghetto ass bitch customer(mother of two small kids) was gonna hit my 17 year old sister for no fucking reason. My sister works at Limited Too(kids clothing store) at the cash register & this stupid cunt caused a huge scene threating to beat her up & screaming at my sister bc she said she was suppose to give her a fucking dollar. Over a damn fucking dollar??!! Seriously?? My sister gave her the right amount of change too. Dumb broad. And acting like that in front of her kids too. Luckily some male customer behind her told her, she better not do shit bc that was wrong.

When my sister got home and told me this, I got so fucking furious. I told her next time some lunatic decides to do that again to call mall security if the manager can't do shit. Hell, I wish I were there when that happened.

But if I ever saw that shit, I would've whipped her fucking ass. I'm very over protective of my younger sister.

I always feel bad when I get fast food. I ask for my sandwitch without meat and they look at me like I'm sweatpants boner man. And 90% of the time it's got meat on it. But I'm always nice, even though I feel like a bitch having to repeat myself or send back the order. I used to work fast food so I know how much it blows - but vegetarians aren't new or rare these days.

I never understand how people can treat others so horribly, like it's just a normal way to behave. And in front of their children, no less. Great way to teach them to be assholes too.

I forgive less than friendly attitudes from service staff, because I know what they put up with and I couldn't do it. But if they are exceptionally rude I will talk to a manager about it.

Seriously. I've never understood why people would purposely be assholes to someone who's serving their food and drinks which they're going to ingest. It's like, dude, they have your food. They can do stuff to it.

You know. I work in retail at the moment. (Although someday I'll be teaching these peoples children, so they'd better be nice.) And sometimes customers totally deserve to be bitched at.

I work at Victoria's Secret and you will never believe how cunty women get about their bras. I work in a VERY small store. It's one of the old school pink and gold stores. We're small, we get LIMITED stock. And women FREAK OUT if we don't have something. I had some woman scream at me that she was never going to come back unless we gave her a discount for being out of stock of the particular bra she wanted. Or when I'm doing a floorset during hours and carrying massive, HEAVY glass shelves across the store and women by the fitting rooms expect me to drop everything and let them in.

My favorite is during our semi-annual sale. "Is everything on sale?" No, dumbass, its not. Or women who peel off the stickers on the bras and switch the prices.

I had one woman at christmas who picked up the piece of luggage from the PINK collection (they're about $8 and tried to claim it was 50% off. She threw a giant hissy fit and claimed that the wall said 50% off so I should give it to her. We have two large cabinets separated by a chunk of wall in our store. One of them was sale, one fill price. I explained this to her. She huffed and told her daughter they were leaving. I just gave her a sarcastic smile and told her to have a wonderful day.

I have so many stories. Needless to say, treat retail people well. If you are rude, they can and will fuck you over. I can't even count the times I've given someone an extra bit off or a discarded coupon or tried that little bit extra to find them what they wanted just because they were nice to me.

OMG, I feel you on the annual sale events. It gets crazy. Crazy cunts don't follow the store policies and get hissy fits at the sales associates. I've witness the things you've mentioned. That shit is not right.
