Default how do you feel about guns in the house?

i dont like guns. this new guy im seeing has 2 by his bed. he has a conceal and carry license and he says he just wants them for protection in case of a break in, and he njoys going to the shooting range.

    it skeeves me out.

something about having sex with someone on a bed that a gun is next to on the floor kind of freaks me out.

i asked him if he would please at least keep them out of my sight when i am there, and he agreed...but its still freaky.

i dont know i have never been aroudn them in my life, i know some people are very pro right to bear arms and whatnot, but to me, and this may sound silly i just dont believe in them.

so how do you feel about guns in the house, or owning guns?

My husband loves guns. He used to own a lot, but had to sell some over the years. he goes shooting with friends sometimes and used to go shooting with his dad a lot when he was younger.

I honestly am afraid of guns and ask that he keep them away from me and out of sight as well.

That would skeve me out too ibi. And I don't believe in guns (in my personal world) too. Guns are for wimps to me. I prefer guys who are mixed martial artist types generally. If you can't fight with your hands, you have no business fighting.

I can understanding ppl wanting guns for protection against other ppl who are wimps using guns. But still, not in my world! I don't like guns.

Not good at all. I don't wanna be arrested for having an illegal firearm in my house.

And I know how to shoot one, I still don't feel safe at all.

I have a 40 caliber Glock that I carry with me where ever I go. As a former law enforcement officer, I've seen many cases where a person could have saved their own life or someone else's life if they had a gun. The people that say guns are for wimps are living in a dream world, because martial arts don't stand up to modern weapons and the criminals of the world don't play fair.

well im upset for 2 reasons

    1. im a little scared that he ahs guns near the bed, like really near as in between the mattress within arms reach. what it if went off or somethign when we were fucking? is that an irrational worry?

    2. what if i startle him one day if i come over and he blows my brains out on accident.

The answer to this question would depend on a number of factors:

    1. The mental/emotional stability of the person who owned the guns (myself included).

    2. Whether or not there are children present in the house.

    3. The relative safety of the neighborhood surrounding the house.

    4. Having knowledge of where exactly the guns are kept.

In some scenarios, they might present a problem, in others they might be a Godsend.

Thank you ... you got that s#!t right !

BTW I'm with you on .40 S&W = 10mm as the lightest caliber that can be trusted to 'get the job done' ! I have a .40 Baby Eagle myself !

I'd be nervouse, too. I prefer to avoid guns. It's not that I have anything against people owning them, but I'm a remarkably unlucky person.

We have several, and keep one on each side of our bed.

And dont worry about it going off accidentally...if he knows about guns(and I'm assuming he does if he has a concealed permit) then he has the guns safety on. Pretty much impossible for it to just go off accidentally.

I went over a guys house who had a knife in a sheath next to the bed and on the other side had a loaded gun unsheathed.

Needless to say I never went over his house again. It scared the crap outta me to never return. I don't like guns especially unlocked and loaded in the house.

Love them, I have several. Did I mention I just received my Gunsmithing certificate too.?

If the gun is not broken then don't fear it is going to shoot accidentally while your having sex. Just isn't. Matter of fact in training the term "accidental discharge" is being opted out for "negligent discharge".Most accidents can be traced back to human error, and are thus not accidents but negligent handling.

I keep a snubby revolver in the center console, and an auto in the night table drawer. Despite what movies show the bad guys don't courteously wait to attack you one at a time, a knife fight is when one goes to the hospital and the other goes to the morgue. A 4' 11', 99 lb female with a Glock 17 and training, trumps the 6' 5", 250lb martial arts rapist.

I am certain that the Framers of the Constitution intended for the Common Man to keep and bear arms; as part of the system of checks and balances written into the Constitution.

ok technical explanation. Sear engagement. The sear is connected to the hammer (or striker), something must force the sear to slip out of the notch in the hammer, thus releasing the hammer to fall and strike the primer. The primer is going to need 35,000 lbs of force or more to detonate and ignite the gunpowder in the casing. The 15 to 20 lbs of force imparted by the spring to the hammer or striker is increased by the small cross section of the firing pin.

Most modern firarms have internal disconnectors and other internal safeties that physically block the hammer from falling unless externals controls are physically manipulated. Don't worry that gun will lay there indefinitely without firing.

I have 2 guns in the house. One family heirloom shotgun, one HK 9mm. Shells are right next to the shotgun, fully loaded clip right next to the pistol. All are hiding in closets.

SO that's how I feel about guns in the house. Safe!

Please don't hide them in closets or under the bed........ please it is the first place thieves look. Get one of these for the H&K (great choice) and it will be safe from theft and children and still can be gotten to very fast even in the dark.

ps keep a flashlight with the handgun to identify the target and blind the bad guys.

I totally agree with that statement however guns are sometimes a necessary evil in order to protect yourself.

The Top Ten Reasons to Own a Handgun

    10. Shooting a handgun at the range is a lot safer sport than snowboarding. Also, it involves very small explosives, which snowboarding does not.

    9. “The police will be there in fifteen minutes, ma’am.”

    8. You ought to get full value from the Bill of Rights, seeing as you pay taxes for it.

    7. Shooting has always sounded like a fun father/daughter activity. Especially if Dad tells her boyfriend all about it.

    6. Cellphones die. Handguns don’t have batteries. And shotguns don’t fit in your purse.

    5. Because stalkers and crazy ex-boyfriends pay such close attention to court orders, and court orders are so easy to get.

    4. Mr. Colt is Mr. Feminist.

    3. Concealed carry — a very present help in times of trouble. Because God helps those who help themselves.

    2. Grenades are a bit hard on local property values, and Mr. Pin is difficult to put back.

And the number one reason to own a handgun:

    1. Shooting and smoking tobacco are the only recreational activities that shock people anymore.

Your welcome. I like to dispel gun myths whenever I can. I have a standing invitation to all SW'ers especially the pink ribbons to come shooting with me. Find your way to Trinidad, CO and we will go. I promise you will have so much fun you will wonder why you never tried it before. We have the Whittington center just to the south in Raton, NM and the small bore (.22 cal) range and shooting the miniature steel pigs and rams is great fun and harder than it looks.

Responsible gun owners really need to get out and promote their hobby. Myself personally I find it easier to teach women to shoot well. Women come to the firing line without so many preconceived notions and ingrained bad habits. Most are expecting horrendous recoil (the counter action to the bullet leaving the barrel) and the gun just jumping back at them. I start them out with something like a .22 cal pistol and the slight recoil surprises them, then women start to have fun too. It is a Zen like discipline that requires focus and control.

Just say you think that Ahmeerah is living in a dream world. I still think that people who tote guns to feel tough are wimps in comparison to real fighters. I can see people using guns as self-defense but that doesn't always work either.

and don't forget the second amendment supporting Girl's Best Friend - Magnaporting !!! A Magnaported 9mm or even 10mm = .40 handgun is just as controllable as a .32 !
