I've noticed that on this board as well. I just don't think it's cool to decide that you won't dance for an entire race because you've found a few bad seeds.

Ok I have to interject here. There is a reason in this case why most Aussie dancers feel this way. Big groups of Indian men come into the club, spend nothing, ask for sex and leave. I'm not kidding, this is not an exaggeration.
I never approach Indians to ask for dances and the other night my friend said "COme on let's just ask them" so I reluctantly agreed. One asked my friend if he could have sex with her for $100, one asked me if I could see him outside the club and the other tried to bargain on the price of dances and asked if he could touch.

Now Im sorry but there are no other group of customers who live up to a stereotype as do these. So once again after being bitten I will not be approaching them again. I'd rather spend my time effectively when I'm at work and maximise the number of dances I get and minimise the annoyance at being insulted and asked for sex.

ETA: My feelings in regard to Indian men only applies in the SC coz I am there to make money. My ex boyfriend of 6 years was half Indian and I got along well with his family. But in the SC they are gross. When you walk into the change room, girls who are still getting ready will say "Are there any customers out there?" at the start of the night. The number of times you here "Nah there is only some Indians" because they are not customers, simply patrons there for a free perve.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

:x I still hold the belief my prostitute friend said, "People only act the way you treat them. Why should they do better if you don't expect better?" She never had a problem with Indian men, because she treated them like humans. They apparently mistreat hookers, but she's only had a problem with ONE in her whole whoring life. She says it's because she treats them like she expects better because she does... and they live up to it.

This freaking killed my hustle the other day. I was sitting at the bar with a friend and some ass hat comes up and started chatting with me, then he declared, "I want to buy her a white Russian, and her a black Russian!" My friend just looked shocked and hurt and turned away. I was like, "Dude, there's an ass hole tax for that!" and told him to tip her, but she refused. Told him that what he said was how he must look at the world and she felt sorry for him.

Not long after that we went to sit with some guys and they made a simular comment, and she left and I followed her. They kept apologizing, though. I didn't see it as them being hatefull, or trying to hurt her feelings, just being stupid and having a lame sense of humor. Fuck, they may have even gotten some dances. But since the "jokes" weren't directed at me, I'm looking at it from the outside.

I'm not sure how to feel about any of this. Was she being too sensitive? Is rasism really still that damn common? Did I do the right thing by staying with her instead of hustling the customers? It was such a miserable night.

I'll be honest..fuck that! I wouldn't want their dances if they were making racially insensitve lame jokes at my expense. But for you, you're lucky..the jokes weren't directed at me so it's much more easier for you to let it roll off your back an go on with the rest of your night.

I've never really had a customer say anything to racially insensitive to me..hmm well once this guy said he wanted some chocolate milk from my tits I've also had men tell me I couldn't POSSIBLY be fully black because I'm to beautiful. I've also been told I'm pretty for a colored girl..yes, colored girl.

Hmm now did you do the right thing by staying with her the rest of the night...IMO no you didn't.

You're there to work. As a friend she knows the game, and hopefully she respects it. I would've excused myself from the group, went over, talked your friend through it, encouraged her to sit in the back and mentally recoup then hit the floor. I would let her know I planned on periodically checking in on her.

Last night some chick from Afghanistan was crying because a custy called her a sand nigger

so...expect the best and prepare yourself for the worst

she missed out on money crying and going home early don't let this be you. The best revenge is success it would've been cool if she would've made 1000 and walked up to him later and said "guess what (showed him the money) It's a good day to be a sand nigger"

    the end lol

i guess it depends on the club.. i'm in new zealand most of the girls are nzers. lots of customers like to think you're foreign.

eg. custy: where are you from?
    me: here
custy: no, surely not.. you look russian/sound english/have an
accent/have this bone structure/that look about you... etc

    happens all the time.
like if they say it enough i'll be like "ok you got me i'm half german-swedish half venezualan-chinese"

they do like to say "oh where's that brazillian/hungarian/asian girl, get her for me'
most don't care at all.. i really think it's how you work, not where you're from/how well you dance/whether you're the best looking girl in the club.

if you're in a club where lots of customers are racist/seem to prefer a certain ethnicity that is not you.. i would go elsewhere

CK, I know it was easier for me - but that doesn't mean it didn't suck to see my friend upset.

And in retrospect, you're right - I should have kept hustling. But, she should have too. And as ruthless as I can be to a customer, I just don't have it in me to abandon a friend.

I guess I just thought that most stupid things customers say - and we all know they say a LOT of them - are almost tolerable as long as we get their money. And the rest has got to be shrugged off. We've had threads dedicated to the worst things customers have said to us, and I guess I just filed this incident as one of those. This industry demands thick skin.

Guys that think they're making funny race jokes forget that their money is just as green as everyone else's. And that's all we care about.

Yea, it does definately take a thicker skin. But sometimes (especially with that racist shit) it just really takes it's toll on you. I've had nights in the club where I found myself in tears alone in the dressing room because everyone in the club gave me looks of disgust or "oh no, black girl alert PLEASEEEEEEEEE don't come over here"

For all you know, she probably has had more nights like this than you think. I've never actually had a person say anything to hurtful that would make me get upset..but I have gotten the look of pure hatred from some men. Maybe that night was just her breaking point..

I'm totally sorry that you've gone through that. So many customers are jerks. I had a guy ask if he could fuck me in the VIP for $300. When I said no, he said, "Oh well! I would only have paid $200 for you anyway!"

But skin color aside, everyone here has had to deal with complete douche bags. If they weren't being stupid about race, they'd be pushing for extras, critizing us about something else, begging us to go home with them, bartering the price of dances, wearing sweat pants or complaining about strippers and strip clubs in general.

I'm just saying that we've got to be tougher than them. Personally, I think that draining their wallets is the best way of proving that

Uh, um, if THAT makes you feel "iffy" about dancing. . .!!!!!???!!!

    Yer in for a treat!

I, for one, have never told cumstomers my real background, because I know if I did, I would hear the most ignorant shiat evar. I know from dealing with people even with my clothes on, even with people I'm on a very friendly basis with.

The clubs in Southern CA are the most racist ones I've ever come across. There were a couple of them owned and managed by dark skinned middle eastern males that flatly refused to hire anyone that wasn't white or didn't pass for white. There were no Asian women, no Black, no Latinas, etc. Latinas weren't even hired unless they passed for white. And the further west you go, the worst it gets. Then again, the further west also means the more people without money and all you'll find are dumps.

There are many posts on the site about this...you can perform a search to locate them. I've posted on some of them about my experiences. I've always experienced racism in the clubs, granted, I'm in the Midwest where things can be a little different than on the coasts, but nevertheless racism is always there.

For me, I've noticed racism the most when it comes to hiring practices at clubs. Many clubs have a fear that if they hire blacks or hispanics, it will draw a certain clientele that is undesirable and/or intimidate the white customers. So once I get through all the bullshit and red tape to get hired....I do fine and what's ironic that a majority of my $$ is earned from older white men.

I have been turned down at many clubs however because of my race which is unfortunate. Is this 2008 or 1950?

I have very little experience at this point, but I've seen/heard some definite "awareness" of race, at the very least. When I came into my club to ask about an audition (I'm white), the bartender was really friendly and said, "Oh, yeah, come in Monday, I'm sure she'll put you right on the schedule because we always need more white girls."

Which was odd, since all of the times I've been in there, there've been about three or four white girls to every one black girl.

The only other instance was amusing; a Hispanic fellow was gawking at my very pale skin and repeating to his friend, "I hate pale girls, so how can I think she's hot?"

So far, though, it seems the the majority of the clientèle have stronger feelings about the music playing than the race or colour of the girl dancing. They're pretty nice to everyone, in general.
