It seems that DW has been ill. I wasn't sure if most of us were aware but I'm sure he'd appreciate some good wishes.Don't know if he checks in but just in case, I hope he's feeling better.

LuckyOne called me the other day and asked how I was (I always like getting calls from her...we always chat about the most ridiculous things). I haven't been around here in quite some time for a very wide variety of reasons not really worth mentioning and so when I got this call I thought it might be a good idea to throw a little post out here. She had mentioned this thread and I just wanted to let everyone know that all is well and I really appreciate all the well-wishes...WAY more than any of you could ever realize so thank you so very much.
Just to catch you up on things, my other businesses has been consuming enormous amounts of my time lately and I've been having a lot of ups and downs with them all (mostly ups though, so at least that's good). Back in March and April I started going through some weird health issues which were really quite odd. I've never really had any major health issues and I'm usually the last person on earth to ever want to go to a doctor for anything. One day I came down with a migraine so bad the pain was absolutely indescribable. I've had them before on very rare occasions but never anything quite like this before. It came on super fast while I was working at my office alone on a Saturday. While my head felt like it was going to explode, I started having a quick decrease in my motor skills (unable to type on my computer), I couldn't write my name properly on a piece of paper, and I had difficulty holding on to objects. I started to freak out a bit. Stupidly, I drove myself home, walked in the door and asked my wife to take me to the hospital. For me to say that basically meant I was pushing the "panic" button. My sister and brother-in-law were over the house too and they freaked also so off the hospital we all went. My head was now getting worse and worse and I was having difficulty speaking. When I got into the ER they assumed I was having a stroke and rushed me in to have a CT Scan done. They did the test along with a few others and the results came back negative for anything stroke related. Needless to say, it was pretty damn scary. They gave me some pain meds and sent me home. They just ruled it off as a bad migraine.
1 week later, I'm having lunch with a friend of mine, a fellow seminar speaker. We go to get our table outside as it was a nice day out. He asks me to go get seated and he was going to go use the restroom. On the way to our table, I started getting dizzy and I had difficulty walking. I got to the table and I absolutely thought I was going to fall down. I couldn't sit properly. My friend came back, sat down and started talking to me. I thought I was fine but I wasn't sure. We had already ordered at the counter so our food came out to us and I was unable to hold my fork and my friend is watching me and he starts freaking out. He's asking me if I'm okay and I'm having difficulty answering him. He's a very calm, cool, and collected kind of person so he calls my wife. I know he's having a conversation with her but I don't recall what about. I want to talk to him, but my brain is working but the words won't come out of my mouth. It's insane. I feel like some part of me is getting unplugged. He calls a few doctor friends of his and they all say I'm having a stroke and to call for an ambulance. Luckily, my office is not far from the Las Vegas Stroke Center at Valley Hospital. He calls for an ambulance and they got there in what seemed like 2 seconds. They ask me a few questions which I'm unable to answer and I see in my friends' eyes that he's really freaked out. They stick me with some sort of IV and off to the hospital I go. Now starts the migraine again. By the time we get there, my headache is out of control. I'm in just uncontrollable pain. They start me on some sort of morphene drip but it doesn't help much. They did another CT scan for a stroke and it too comes back negative. The neurologists are puzzled considering it's now my second time in 2 weeks. My wife eventually shows up and she's talking with the doctors and I'm in this private room in the ER but still the noises in there seemed like I was in a Metallica concert my head hurt so bad. They wanted to keep me overnight to run more tests.
So, 2 MRIs, 2 ultrasounds, and a battery of more neurological tests than you can possibly imagine and STILL no answers. I had my tests being sent to every top neurologist around the country and nobody could figure out what was wrong with me. So they discharged me the next day when my headache went away and sent me home with some super strong pain meds in case they came back while they researched it.
3 days later, back in the hospital...same story. This time I had a friend of mine call an ambulance for me over the phone...nuts.
Long story short (I know...too late), I wound up traveling all over the country from neurologist to neurologist and nobody could ever figure out what was wrong with me. Some thought it was a mild stroke, some thought it was Lyme's disease, some thought it was an aneurysm, the list goes on and on. Bottom line, I'm diagnosed with what is called, and I quote, "Atypical Migraine Headaches" as caused by unknown mild seizures. Evidently, I'm having these odd seizures which are caused by reasons unknown which are causing these massive Category 5 Migraines (the worst kind) for reasons unknown, hence the name, "Atypical." So, in essence, I have something for which there is a name but there is no known cause or no known cure.
So I'm constantly going to different neurologists looking for different answers and am taking some extremely powerful medications to suppress all of this mess and so far I've had no migraines since then. The only downside is that these meds have some pretty horrible side effects so I'm looking for different answers to this issue as fast as I can so I can get off the meds sooner. At least I'm feeling a lot better though and so far none of the side effects of the meds have been causing any major problems so I'm lucky. So, that's my story. Crazy.
As for everything else, you may have read this already, but britneyireland will soon be taking over the DancerWealth operation I am very excited to announce. She and I have been negotiating this for a considerable amount of time and I guess it be only appropriate for me to say it in addition to her. Not only is she the epitome of someone who is a product of the product, but she is a shining example of someone who who actually "gets it" in this industry. Her brilliance, her personality, and most importantly, her ability to teach other women in this industry her skills and her vast knowledge of what it truly takes to be a success in this business is a very rare find and I am very excited to announce that we are in the process of transferring the company over to her. With my time commitments in so many other places right now and with her vision for what this company can grow into, there are going to be a lot of amazing transformations in education for this industry taking place within the next few weeks and months in ways never thought possible with her at the helm so stay tuned for more information on that to come.
Anyway, thanks again to everyone for the well wishes. I am doing much better now and am over a very weird hurdle in my year. It's nice to see some familiar names again and make a post on the site I used to frequent so much. Take care everyone!

That sounds hideous! I hope you get some answers soon - wishing you a speedy recovery!!! (-:

Great to hear from you! I wish you a speedy recovery from those migraines. I know they're horrifying but hopefully they will subside for good this time.

Wow man. I hope all gets better for you, seriously. Did you see any Neurologists in the NE?
People are not ruled by their memories.
I had EXACTLY THE SAME THING happen to me in 2002 - two episodes, about a week apart. I was diagnosed with Transient Ischemic Attacks (often called mini-strokes). They were a side effect of an antiviral medication I was taking for cold sores. If you're taking Zovirax, Valtrex, or any other antiviral, stop taking it right now. After my second one I quit taking Zovirax and I haven't had any further episodes.
I hope you never have another one. They're absolutely terrifying. Good luck.
