    Default Nerding out

What do you do when you nerd out?

Nerding out like me when I watch Deathnote episodes online or search and watch videos on youtube for hours.

Hang out with my Dad, LOL. He's a recently retired physicist and is really into telescoping and astrophotography.

I help him calibrate his lenses and mirrors and sometimes we drive up the canyon and play with different filters on his scope and look at awesome things!

In order to take amazing quality pictures he has his telescope set up in the backyard and an exposure can take all night. I have my own photo album of his work.

I think being a nerd is really cool!

I'm a big fan of comic books and manga...I was more upset when Death Note ended than when Harry Potter ended. I havn't seen the movies though, just cause I heard their shite.

Otherwise, the vast majority of my free time finds me sitting at the end of my bed on my computer. Typically I have at least one IM window open at any time along with at least one internet window where I can usually be found on various forums. I spend some time on here, but I'm most active on Blaqk Ink Style which has been described as "Bizarro" by outsider geeks and has more inside jokes than you could ever imagine.

When not online, I can be found staring at wave forms doing editing stuff on Wavepad or my main project now, learning how to operate Fruity Loops.

^WOW that guy defines nerdy. "Not particularly interested" after he pins her down, then she climbs on top of him? (Did I read that rite?) But then becomes turned on by her speaking Star Trek jargon. Do do do de doo....

I like to find a weird subject then get all obsessed with it--the lastest is Albuquerque's secret history of being a sanctuary for tuberculosis patients back in the day. THOUSANDS of sick ppl came here to die, changing the community substantially, yet it's kind of unwritten history, a big black TB mark.

I'm an SCA member...I don't have the time to nerd out often, but when I do, I'm usually at some kind of medieval re-enactment or gathering, in costume and in character. Or, even better...archery practice.

Im one of those research nerds. I LOVE finding out stuff about cities. When we were driving cross country last month, I would wikipedia where certain movies we loved were filmed. And if we were anywhere near there we would go to all the locations and take photos.

    We managed:
    1. goonies
    2. Legend of Billie Jean
    3. Over the edge
    4. True Romance
    5. Natural Born killers
    6. the minor threat house

I swear there were more. We also stay in hotels that are legendary. So we stayed at the "overlook" but it's actually the Stanley which has some TB history as well! Stanly steamer..etc.

I <3 Archery! I stayed at this all inclusive in Puerto Vallarta that had archery once and literally did nothing but target practice and a little wave action.

I play WoW (and I have a headset so I can talk to my guild during gameplay), read comics, read sociology texts or Jewish literature, am a member of the ASA, and study for the LSAT all day...

For my serious nerd sessions, I drive to Columbus with my MacBook Pro (named Lotus) to have LAN parties with my guild leader...

I've discussed Russian literature, medieval Hebrew literature, Star Trek, WoW, video games, comics, jazz, and international politics with custies.

i read lots of books: harry potter, self-help books, history books (right now it's the Tudor dynasty and Wars of the Roses), biographies, and listen to fiction on cd in the car on my way to and from work.

when i do watch tv i love the history channel, pbs, and the discovery channel. sometimes animal planet.

i could spend hours at the library just browsing and reading.

i'm tempted to read psychology journal articles for fun.

i am obsessed with severus snape fanfiction. i love star wars and can quote endlessly from it. i collect cool postcards.

oh, and i occasionally dance to "white and nerdy" by weird al onstage.

My cell phone ringtone is the Final Fantasy VII victory fanfare, and my test message ringer is the Legend of Zelda secret theme.

I regularly fix guys' computers, those 1d10ts.

Instead of customizing rings on Tiffanys.com, I go the the Alienware website and customize my dream laptops, then lament that I can't afford a $6000 laptop.

Work on math art, role play on MUCKs, watch Code Geass or Get Backers, watch Firefly, ponder cosplaying, discuss conventions, write HTML freehand on napkins, work on math puzzles and algebra problems.
