Well, ladies, after lurking here and reading pages upon pages of posts, and after having toyed with the idea for a couple of months, I decided it was time to hold or cut bowstrings, so to speak.
So the fella and I went to check out a local club, and I really enjoyed it there. A wee bit divey, but friendly and safe-feeling, with a sense of camaraderie among the women that did not seem entirely faux.
I got up the courage to speak to the booking manager, and arranged an audition on Monday at 9pm. Yesterday I went and got shoes and two outfits, and since then I have been traipsing around in them trying to get my sea-legs, and practicing critically in front of a mirror.
I am very, very nervous, but, on the flip side, I am confident that I am going to do well, be desirable, and land the job. So...nervous anticipation.
I had initially thought to check the place out, keep working out and practicing for a few months, and start at "some point in the future," but when I was there, I just kept remembering what all of you had said here: let the momentum take you, charge ahead, start NOW, and don't overthink it.
So, thank you all for all of the wisdom you've left here, and please, if you have a moment, wish me luck.
(Also, uh, I know we can't have stage-name specific threads, but can I get a few opinions on the ones I am having trouble deciding between? I am tall, sort of lanky, small-breasted and small-hipped, with very pale skin, a few colourful tattoos, grey-blue eyes and short auburn hair. I'm concentrating on being slow and sensual in dancing, with lots of smiling and eye contact.
Between these:
Dace, Carter, Hester, Quin
Which do you think is an all right or an *awful* choice?)
