DO you believe in heaven/hell?
Do you think we get reincarnated?'
Do you think we just go into the ground and thats that??
All this talk of suicide on this site over the past few days had me wondering peoples thoughts on this?

i often thought about what happens, but i jus cant come to my own conclusion, ill jus have to wait till fait decides wen im ready to find out
not anytime soon i hope lol
I believe in reincarnation... I'm curious to know everyone else's opinions!
I hope that there is somekind of afterlife because I'd want to see my loved ones again. I do believe in ghosts/spirits but don't know what to believe about "where" they exist -another dimension, heaven or something else? My faith or hope doesn't come from any certain religion.
If that's ok with others, could we add to this question what we want to be done to our earthly remains after we've died?
I would like to be cremated and scattered...maybe secretly to Père Lachaise cemetary near Jim Morrison![]()
I think you go into the ground (if yr lucky and not murdered w/no trace) and that's the end of it.

Oh Lord I could tell you a lot about that!! LOL!!
I actually did die and I came back to life.
My spirit buzzed out of my body (yes there are spirits. We ARE spirits having a physical experience), floated around the room, didn't see my reflection in the mirror. It was cool! Very peaceful. And I knew that I had "died" but I didn't care how, didn't care about my body which lay below me. I saw a tunnel but didn't go in because I instinctively knew that if I went in I would progress into my death and not come back to life. I didn't feel ready to progress, and the moment I had that thought I was slammed back into my body and jolted awake. The next morning a bright light filled my room. This light was awesome. It didn't hurt my eyes but it was powerful and it loved me. It revealed many truths abut my life, gave me an assignment, and left me feeling super energized and loved. I noticed after the experience, I no longer needed to drink energy drinks or caffeine, I looked about 10 years younger, and people wanted to be around me more. It was miraculous and I cherish the experience.
I learned from the light how important it is to love and respect each other, and not to judge one another. I also learned that we live in a world of illusion, that things are often not what they seem.
But as far as reincarnation goes...I don't know! I wish I got more info on that. I did not experience hell (um, thank God!) and the while the whole thing was very nice. I also must say that suicide does not serve anyone. Life can suck sometimes but that is when you are experienceing tremendous times of growth and after it passes, you become a lot stronger. The shitty times make you stronger.
No, we dont' just go into the ground. Our spirits never die. And when it is time for us to pass on, it is very nice and pleasant and fun! There was nothing unnatural about the experience and if I ever faced death again I would not be afraid at all.

Oh yeah and I don't give a rat's ass what they do with my body afterwards. Trust me it's the last thing you'll probably think about,

I don't think anything happens. There's just nothing.
The logical scientific part of me finds it impossible to believe in any sort of conciousness after death. The other part is ridiculously hopeful and afraid to NOT believe in something. Dunno what. Reincarnation sounds cool, but I don't really believe it happens.

^^^^ im curiouse as to what u died of?
it sounds a lil like this thing my mum told me about (shes wiccan), were ur soul leaves ur body while you sleep and goes places from the past or present, places you have never been b4 or have been many times, she told me its one theory on why ppl have daja vu when there in a new place but feel they have been there b4 sumhow. i cant rem what she siad it was called, shes cool tho i love hearin her wiccan stuff, an i too belive in ghosts but as to how u become one im not sure, is it from unfinished buisness?

^^ I think she was referring to astral travel. That's not what happened to me, because my death "woke me up" (I was conscious of it all) and also because I saw a light in my living room the next day.
^What were your views on what happens after death, prior to your experience?

Before my NDE I believed in God/a higher power and I felt that if you lived the best life you could, then you'd be at peace.
I wonder if my experience would differ from someone who is an atheist.
I read a lot about NDEs and it seems to me that there are certain common denominators one experiences when dying, like a feeling of being outside one's body, weightlessness, a tunnel, a light, a life review, etc. I had all these.
Death is kinda like getting your period for the first time...you've never had a period before but due to the cramps, bleeding, moodiness, etc. you know it's your period. Then after the first one, you're not afraid of getting your period anymore.
Except that death didn't hurt or make me feel bitchy. LOL Quite the opposite!![]()

We're all going to be worm turds. Trallalalahthe end.
I would like reincarnation but there's no scientific proof that supports my wishes.

I do believe some ppl's NDE's. Also, been there with the calm feeling in the face of calamity. One from taking an exit ramp 80mph in the snow and the car spun around many times, and another when I was hiking a very steep mountain...I slipped and fell onto my back and kept on sliding on this flat rock, and I thought for sure that I'd slide off of it with the ground 80 feet below, but luckily it wasn't that far!
I guess that's a different topic tho. I'm a born and bred atheist, but yea there are lots of similarities in ppl's NDE's. Pretty sure I read something somewhere where the tunnel and all of that was explained scientifically, but it was awhile ago, can't remember where.

I believe that whatever someone believes is what happens.
I'll go to heaven, the Buddhist will be a butterfly and the atheist will simply cease to be - because that's what they all believe.

There's an interesting study also done that shows people who died temporarially and saw those tunnels were actually directly related to the order the brain shut down in when dying.
And lol at the term 'died temporarially'.

yeah thas it astral travel, yeah i guess it couldnt of been, apparently if ur jolted awake while astro travellin, ur soul can get lost an end in death, dunno how true it is tho but i like all the wiccan stuff an feel in a way that it is true.

I think you decompose and your bits of carbon become new things, and then if the new things form life, you live on forever! Little pieces of immortal stardust. That's my version of pantheism, anyway. I like to think of my atoms and everybody else's roaming the universe throughout eternity.
Like, what is conciousness, really? I think the me-ness of my being ends with this body, but who is to say how that whateverness reforms. Who is to say that there isn't some kind of rudimentary version of consciousness is all sorts of things. I know perfectly well how whacked out that sounds, but I like to think of life as something magical. I like to watch birds and think of sunflowers following the sun all day.
Funny you mention it, I was just reading through all my old subscribed threads, and this question was asked a while back. Here's the link.

Could very well be. I wish I got more info on this stuff while I was gone! I've heard of atheists becoming believers after having an NDE though. But hey who knows.
I will say that I believe every death experience is unique to the individual, despite the "common denominators" .
I'd love to hear the scientific explanation, because the sensation was cool. I felt like I was vibrating and then levitating slowly up and out of my body. And I heard this loud buzzing noise, similar to a cell phone on vibrate. I remember days afterwards every time my phone vibrated it made my jump! LOL!
I think it is more important to focus on living a good life than worrying about death.
I think when you're dead, you're dead and that's that. No having to fret about seeing your loves ones again, because all functions and consciousness will cease completely.
And for the record, I'm not an atheist, even though I have a profound loathing for most organized religion.

I dont know what I believe.
I am a lutheran(dont go to church that often though).
I do believe in God and i do believe that the "soul" goes somewhere when we die. Obviously our physical bodies just rot(or burn if your cremated) but i think our souls definitely go somewhere.
Theres just too many different beliefs. its overwhelming in a way.
