Need a tattoo of the Star Of David.

Great idea and concept! Haven't seen that on someone. Have you found an artist yet because it looks easy to screw up.
I love my new tat and strongly believe in people getting tats with a meaning behind them that means something to them.
Mine is a flaming lotus with a phoenix coming out of the flames. The lotus is to remind me of peace, the fire is sort of meant to be cleansing and the phoenix symbolizes strength.

I am going to get a tattoo of a pork chop on the inside of my stomach.
I want a snowflake -- in stencil art style, but don't have any idea about where to put it. Also want the word "Namaste" -- possibly in big black Olde English font going across my upper back. And want flowers...lotus flowers and cherry blossoms in a Japanese sleeve with gray and black background swirls.

I have been thinking of getting an armband with hieroglyphics--cartouches with both names, etc. I know it would look cool as hell but the permanence thing bothers me.
Also I have also seen SO MANY really shitty tattoos, on so many people. Thousands of them, enough for a lifetime. For some of them it might be legitimate body art, for the vast majority, it's so clearly a fad and a mindless/conformist thing rather than a truly innovative/creative thing. I am not a conformist, and it takes a lot of creativity to impress me anymore.

i am getting a jill valentine / resident evil half sleeve and a nanaki / final fantasy vii side piece. booked in on july 30 so will start one of them then, and do the other one afterwards. undecided at this point as to which one i want to do first.
edit: oh, and there's no meaning behind them other than resident evil and final fantasy vii are the best things ever.

I have a friend who has a Dali melting clock, and it's done incredibly well. Make sure you research artists in your area, look at their work, talk to people, etc. I have several tats, some not so well done, some quite nice. They all mean something to me, though, and that's why I got them. I have been planning full sleeves and backpiece work for about 10+ years. My mind still changes about some things all the time. I know I'll get around to it eventually, but there's no rush.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
Yes, I have a tattoo in between my shoulder blades that I don't want anymore. I'm going to cover it up with a little naked trucker mud flap girl with stripper shoes on.

I want to add more flowers to the one over my heart. Tis for my mom so it'd be what she liked. Yellow roses, Black-eyed susans, and Tiger lilies. Then I have two touch-ups to do. I also want wings on my back, and the last two of my totem animals on my upper back.

People have bad ink mostly because they lacked patience and foresight. Finding a really good artist for a really meaningful piece that complements your body and coming up with an idea that works takes a while. Many people get spontaneous tattoos with little thought as to actualization.
I want a sleeve/sleeves so badly... children's book characters, to go along with my backpiece. Unfortunately, law=no sleeves.
I'm getting a peacock feather tattooed on my foot. I used to visit my grandparents farm in Indiana every summer and my grandpa would give me a seed and tell me to plant it somewhere in the yard. When I woke up the next morning there would be a peacock feather exactly where I planted the seed! This mystified me for years, and I would look forward to planting the "peacock feather seed" every summer.
My grandpa passed away on January 23rd of this year so I'm going to wait until January 23rd to get it done. I'm doing it on my foot because I used to run around in the yard barefoot all the time up there, plus it will be visible all the time because I rarely wear actual shoes![]()

Going to a good artist doesn't mean they are going to look good forever. The hubby has an armband of flames that goes all the way around his bicep, underside too, with a wolf on the outside. It was done by some famous guy when he lived in San Diego, the guy did a bunch of famous peoples tatoos and is supposedly fantastic. It looked awesome for 6 or 7 years, but now it's 14 yrs old and looks kind of faded and the edges are blurred a bit. Not nice at all.
Now I'm super confused by the tatoo thing. I mean, WHY on earth get something permanent on your body knowing it is going to look like shit in a few years? Do they really all do this? I thought it was just some weird thing that happened to hubby's.
I always wanted a tatoo, but just never got around to getting one. If it's true that they all fade and smear, I'm pretty damn glad though.

No, they pretty much all do that. That's why I got mine done in only black and white and with thin basic lines... because when it starts to spread it'll still look okay. They smear because the skin loses elasticity over time and slowly it becomes more and more faded (from sun) and stretchy (from age).

What you're describing when the lines look blurry is when the tat artist goes in too deep and at a bad angle. Also sun exposure can cause loss of color and blur of lines. Lysondra is also correct in her statement. Many things happen over time to the tat. So take care of it by wearing sunscreen and no fluctuating weight.
