Default Where can I find a vintage dress like this?

This dress is on PoshGirl Vintage. It's just a little too small for me and it's black. I need a dress just like this one (or close - it's mainly the SLEEVES that I want, it's so fucking hard to find a nice dress with sleeves!!) but in red. Anyone know where to find it? Or any sexy red rockabilly dress with sleeves?

A new store just opened up on Hawthorne. It's called Crossroads Trading Post. I haven't been to it, but they have one in Santa Monica & one on Melrose and a friend commented that it seemed like they shipped in a lot of nice, high quality used stuff in from other cities. (They've only had their storefront in PDX open for about a week or so.) You might want to check it out!

Stop Staring is a line that specialises in rockabilly style dresses. Google!

There's some dresses with similar sleeves here: http://www.bettiepageclothing.com/ if you look under dresses.

I've been to their shop in the Planet Hollywood casino in vegas, they have great dresses and I remember their pricing was really reasonable.

Trashydiva.com is great for vintage-inspired dresses. They're a bit pricey, but they're sale dresses are reasonable, and the dresses are remarkable in quality.

Pinupgirlclothing.com (under Streetwear) is also good, though half the quality, and they take forever to ship.

    http://www.mybabyjo.com/ has some nice dresses.

And also, though I'm ashamed to admit it...I have a dress that looks exactly like that from Hot Topic. And another one from Charlotte Russe. A lot of times either place just has ugly crap, but sometimes they have nice vintage-inspired dresses.

I've had a couple of bad experiences with PinupGirl and their cheap-quality, overpriced trash... I loved the dresses on Trashy Diva, but there wasn't much in the way of sleeves. Thanks for the other leads, I'll check them out! I've been Googling like crazy but it's really difficult to find nice dresses with sleeves for some reason!

^I think it's just the season Yek. I know Trashy Diva rotates their dresses, and right now they're int heir skimpier phase. Around the end of August, they update with more "Fall-Friendly" options, so 3/4 sleeves, awesome vintage-inspired coats, etc.

Hey Yek, did you peruse the vintage clothing section on Ebay?
I've scored a couple really really gorgeous June Cleaver/Donna Reed looking dresses for well under $40!

Crossroads is used clothing. Buy, sell, etc. I dunno about down there but we have 3 up here and all the clothes are crap. Used ugly last season stuff. Not really nice vintage stuff.

If I were looking for that, I'd first check Lady Luck on 28th & Burnside (open days) and/or Avant Garden on Stark at 30th (open nights), as they both seem to have an interesting selection of vintage stuff... there are loads of vintage shops on the eastside. Lady Luck seems to be one of the glammier ones, so that might be a good place to look.

Thanks kindly for all the leads!

I've been surfing the vintage shops in southeast Portland for months and haven't found my wedding dress yet... bummers. Still looking. I really appreciate all the leads!

One DOES wonder where all the sleeves went.

Xtabay in the Clinton St. neighborhood is probably my fave vintage store.

I've never even heard of that one! I like House of Vintage and Lived-In Lover... will try those other ones the next time I'm in Portland! (I'm spending the summer in Seattle right now but going home for weekend visits every so often.)

I bought one on eBay, but I don't want to spend the time and money on altering it when it's strapless and I don't want that. I bought it before the economy tanked and I was planning on having my arms fixed, but I can't do that, so I want something with sleeves. The one I have is also way too damn long and it would cost at least $50 to shorten it, which I don't want to do. So I think I'm just going to sell it and buy another one with sleeves and a circle skirt; it'd be easier to dance in that anyway, plus I've always wanted to wear a circle skirt with a crinoline!

BUT BUT..that dress is going to look SOOO good on you. And if do a shawl thing like you were planning you wont have to worry about it being strapless(not that you have to even though I know you do...I wear strapless stuff and we have the same arms)

Why not invest in a bolero? Makes anything have sleeves with class!

    You could try

They have interesting stuff and I've heard only good things about the quality and fit. I'm getting my wedding dress from there, too.

    Good luck!

if the sleeve thing is a concern, we could always pick out a nice fabric to make a shawl or bolero with on one of your weekends down. Seems easier than finding a whole new dress.

I'd try e-bay first then google vintage dresses.

Sorry, just found this thread... I have checked eBay. I don't want to have to keep up with a shawl all night and I don't like boleros on me. I'd rather just get a swing dress with sleeves. I'm checking out the sites mentioned here and they look promising!
