Hubby says they do. Yes, they're fake. I don't do real flowers as you can see by our lack of landscaping. And if they do make it look like a funeral home, they were cheap so I can put fake daisies there instead. He just says the red & purple remind him of a grave marker And so you don't have to look for them, they're on the inside corners of the steps

Honestly, paired with the style of the house, your husband is kinda right I think the daisies would look much better, give it a try!

    (BTW, gorgeous house)

Thanks CK I am not good with colors AT ALL! Even when it comes to my clothes...if it doesn't match with black I don't wear it! I really wanted the daisies anyway, but...when I bought those I was going through this "I need to start adding color" thing lol. I knew I could get honest, unbiased opinions from here

My mother is an avid gardner and I think your house would look beautiful with an English inspired garden. Maybe a stone walkway going up to your entrance with an arbour halfway threw, dafodills, ivy, roses... ahhhh you could do so much!

(i think the color scheme is off in this pic, but a white-daffodills, purples, greys, lavenders, light blues...)

Ooooh that's pretty! Can you plant fake flowers in the ground? That's the only way I can keep em alive. Seriously, I invested in flowers the year before last and they lasted about 4 weeks. I just forget to water them.

We did talk about putting in a stone walkway from the right side of the house. Maybe not stone but those concrete square thingies with designs in them (don't know what they're called). We do have a small stone walkway that goes between the drive ways and it has those long grass looking plants that you don't have to take care of along both sides. They were there when we bought the house

    It does,

the urns do get lost......perhaps larger earns, window boxes for downstairs.

as for flowers, try yellow flowers.....youneed something "light" to off-set the darkness of the porch and shadow

Thats such a beautiful house and those flowers, noooooooooo!
Sorry, but Im with Oprah when it comes to artificial flowers (-: The placement is sort of odd too me thinks.
Im not a gardener either, but surely there are some low maintenance plants you could get. Maybe some neat little bushes along the front or something?

I picked no but i couldnt see them very clearly.

Your house is beautiful!! I love those style of houses. Most houses I see around my area are brick. Very cute.

Yes, like MsQwerty said you should get some shrubs and such that kinda survive on their own. Try looking into what grows naturally in your region and you'll be on the right track though you'll probably still need to take care of them some. Your yard has such potential!

Or you could add non-plant features to the yard like paths and fountains and stuff.

Ok your house is so cute I couldn't help myself (please forgive the bad photoshop, in a bit of a rush) I think this would look cute. The plants along the front of the porch are hostas, my mom has them in her garden and she lives in one of the coldest areas of the country. They are hard to kill! Then I think it would look cute to put two potted plants on either side of the front door. I suggest petuinas, "wave petuinas" to be exact because they grow out and get nice body and depth to them. Plus they come in a ton of colors and once again are pretty easy to care for. I also added the brick walkway and brick edging along the hostas for the fun of it

Wow! That changes everything! Thank you for doing that I'm going to save it so I can show my husband. I'd have to make the walkway turn to the side, though that shouldn't be hard. We have 2.3 acres and 80% of it is the front yard, so it would cost a fortune to stretch it out that far. I could go out a little, and then turn it to the driveway.

Hostas! That's what I was trying to think of that were here when we bought the house. I agree, they are hard to kill. I haven't done anything to them since we moved here (except mowed over a few...oops!) and they are still thriving. Thanks again, that looks great

If you don't like gardening, etc...I would advise planting native flowers/vegetation. That way, you don't have to care for them as they are used to the local environment.

It's what we are doing with our house. I don't have time to tend to a yard of flowers, bushes, and shrubs...so most stuff is getting freecycled out and replaced with native plants. That way the yard looks nice and is generally maintenance free.

^^I bet you don't have time to garden, especially now with *3* kiddos! Congrats by the way I have 3 as well so I'm sure you can relate.

Your house in general looks like a funeral home. Just need a nice big driveway to the front door and a sign. Hahaha. Shrubs would help. Large vases of flowers with nothing else is too "We have dead people here."

Very pretty home! I don't think they look bad at all. Some yellow ones would warm the place up a bit though.
