    Default Interior design opinions..

As posted in picture post we are possibly buying a condo in Florida. As it is a condo and a smaller space, I want to kind of keep the colors neutral. I don't want a red living room and a blue bathroom since it's all close together.. make sense?

I'm going to go with like sage green/brown/beige/earth tones throughout. However, I have run across the bedspread I have been searching for all my life. I knew it existed but just now found it..

It will be mine. We have beige carpet in the room now, and the walls are white which I will of course be painting. I like the 3 walls 1 color and 1 wall another bold, fun color. I want to put black and white photos on the walls in there... What color(s) could I paint the room? Anybody got any decoration ideas?

Oh.. and I want lamps like this in there too:

If you are going to incorporate the earth tones in your decorating, I suggest a few punches of deep reds to compliment the greens. If the red wall scares you, then I would suggest an earthy green like this:

You might want to search the Glidden paint website. Its amazing!

I love the earth tone palette, mostly because Frank Lloyd Wright used it in his homes and I LOVE his architecture. There are lots of greens, golds, pale yellows and browns. It leaves a very neutral yet warm space that you can accent with almost any complimentary color! As far as furniture goes, dark woods and silvertones would look amazing next to the bed set!

I love this dark wood furniture series:

These lamps are contemporary and neutral... and shiny:

I love this palette of colored pillows, would fit with your earth tones:

^ Thanks!!! I love all the stuff you posted. I actually may go with a red wall, that's what I was thinking. My entire living room in our current house is a pretty, deep red and I love it.

Most of our wall pictures are black and white, and we have a few different colors varying room to room. Of course, I'm probably not the best person to be giving decorating advice (based off my funeral home flowers lol) but the black and white pictures (to me) match every color. The bathroom is a conche pink, the bedroom is a dark red (cavern red is the name of it), and the living room is a toupe color. Let me know if you want me to snap a few pics so that you can see what black & white looks like with different colors

You can paint the room almost any color since black and white will be your major theme. A brown or tanish color might be cool.

Here's a link to (and yes, that's me looking all douchebaggery in the photo).

One thing you can do is to take some pics of your room and photoshop in different colors. That's how I picked out mine.

Ohhh, and Overstock.com rocks!!! All my furniture (except the couch) is from there and the rest is Target. You get amazing deals on there.

I REALLY wanted to do the light blue / chocolate brown duo but it was too light to use as an accent color. In any case I love the red that I went with

Oh, I LOVE that beadspread. I have one quite similiar that is Ralph Lauren but mine is blue and white. Anywhoo.... Black white and red all go together really well. Could you do a black white and red house? You could probably pull off black white and pink too but I don't know how your hubby would feel about that LOL

IMO the Light blue/chocolate brown combo might not be a good choice if you're looking to keep it that way in any long term sort of way. At least use it for things that are more easily changeable,. My mom's doing those colors in her living room, but she is a retired interior designer who changes the paint color every few years anyhow. The color combo is a trend that probably won't make it into the classic zone, just like most other trendy color combos. Yes, color duos have trends too.

Think Orange/Brown. Sound good? Hell no. But it was definitely the flavor of the year(s) a couple of decades ago.

Hmm. What kind of beige is your carpet? And are you planning on selling it later on?

^ It's a light beige, however I think we're just going to do hardwood floors or bamboo floors throughout. The carpet looks new, but it's the cheap, basic carpet so it's nothing special. We have a 2 year old, a dog and a cat so I'm sure the carpet wouldn't look beige for too long

I spent HOURS on target.com yesterday picking stuff out and I've pretty much got the living room and bathroom done. I'm feeling better about the bedroom, I'm trying to decide between a red or an orange accent wall. I'm going to do the rest of the walls a dark beige. The good news is that if we get the condo, I'll probably just move down there early so I can do the painting and decorating (and look for a nursing job of course) before my husband and son get there so I'll have free reign!

I found your other thread where you posted pics of your room so I took the liberty of making a couple color mockups for you. Hope you don't mind. If there's a color you want to see let me know!

Ohh, and check out for ways to come up with a color palette.

^ Thanks!! We didn't end up getting the condo.. somebody else put in a cash offer so the bank took theirs. We're still moving when we find a place and I'm definetely doing our room with that bedspread. I'm thinking of doing the walls a dark beige with an orange accent wall like the one you posted. Thanks for doing that
