    Default Fascinator Updo

So I've got this great handmade fascinator that I REALLY want to use in my wedding. The problem is that I can't find any updo's that really utilize them well. I have NO idea what to do. My hair is medium length and doesn't curl or stay straight well. So I'm looking for more of a do that puts all or most of the hair UP. I've been googling images and youtube surfing for tutorials.
MiaM your input would be great too, since you made it!

A nice updo that looks good with a fascinator is an infinity bun, also called a figure eight. Figure out where you want your fascinator to go, and pull your hair into a ponytail there. Twist the hair so that it starts to bun, stacking one coil on top of the other. Make sure to wrap the tail very tightly at the base. Flip the top coil over next to it so that it looks like a figure eight.

Take the comb part of your fascinator, holding it upside down, and pierce both of the halves of the figure eight, going in upwards. Flip it over and catch your scalp hair as you push it back down and into your bun. Holds like a rock, though you can use bobby pins or spray for extra hold. You can also do it with hairsticks and hair forks.

Here's a demo. The blonde at the bottom of the page is doing the figure eight.

You can do it vertical or horizontally. Hope that helps.

I'll try that for sure. The problem is I can't flip the fascinator over like your saying. I know what you mean, because I have experience with clips, but there's so many flowers and wires with jewels it can't be done...not easily. I'm too afraid I'll hurt the pieces on the fascinator.
I'm also worried my hair isn't long enough. I mean...It looks long enough, but whenever I try to do something it doesn't stay tight or in. No matter how much hair spray or bobby pins I use. I think I'm going to do a side part-swooping side ponytail. If I go that route I don't think I'll be able to use the fascinator though

Go to walmart and get "Good hair day pins". They're cheap, they match your hair, and they hold like a dream. Ulta has them too.

Is the fascinator on a comb? If so, you gotta tease and hairspray the shit out of the area you want to wear it... Worked for my Beckum-esque bob I sported for my wedding.

Also, these sites might inspire you... they're for birdcage veils but those seem to go hand in hand with fascinators.

damn, I didn't even know what a "fascinator" was. I never knew they were called that.

Obviously pins are a must, but could you also try getting a simple small fascinator in the same metal, doing the deed with that, and then fixing your ornate one in after the fact, making the fascinator look like it's doing more of the work than it truly is?
