    Default Panicking on Stage

Tonight will be my first night dancing, and I feel confident about my appearance, my outfit, my attitude, and even my hustle. I have spent a few hours here on SW, learning some great things and feel very prepared to approach customers and immerse myself in the money-making!

There is one thing that I am terrified about however, and that is getting up on the main stage. At the club I was hired at, there are no poles (it's very upscale). I feel that if there was a pole, I wouldn't be as nervous. It would give me something to touch, and to move around - like a prop. Without a pole, I am not quite sure what to do with myself. I am nowhere near ready for any type of floorwork (I am still wobbly in my new heels).

Also, I have pretty bad anxiety/panic. I am fearful that when my song starts and I walk out, I will freeze, become totally nauseous (always happens when I panic), my throat closes up, I can't breath, and my heart POUNDS. I am having irrational fears of running off stage...or making a fool out of myself. I am not sure if we are able to skip the stage (I think you can do it if you are in VIP), but I'm not 100%. I also know that I won't be able to skip forever...

Any tips for someone with extreme stage fright? I have considered taking 1/2 of a Xanax, because I gave up drinking 7 months ago, and don't want to go back down that path. I am the type that once I "get it over with", I think I'll be fine....it's just GETTING TO THAT POINT.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    FUCKING SEARCH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!

    ***just kidding****

Just take it slow. Dance slow. Slow down your mind. Even if you don't actually do anything, the guys are there to see naked women, not a talent show I spent a lot of time on the floor as a newb and it really helped.

Sweetie, I totally understand where you're coming from. When I 1st started dancing, the 1st club I EVER danced at had no pole, and it was a VIP club so no alcohol was served. Was I nervous? HELL YEAH. I had a few drinks before I made my way to the club, and by the time it was time for me to go on stage, I wasn't tipsy anymore and fully aware that I had to dance in front of a bunch of guys.

Trust me, you'll be fine. We've all had 1st night jitters. It's just natural. I know my friend has been dancing for 3 years now and she STILL gets nervous everytime she goes on stage.

As far as the Xanax, I know alot of girls who take that before going on stage. But you don't want to do that each and every time that you have to get on stage. As you get more comfortable, you'll learn to be able to get on stage w/o that. It's just a matter of getting used to it.

When you go in tonite, just take a deep breath and relax. Don't ask yourself "what if" because that will make you even more nervous. Guys want to see a girl who is confident. So with that being said, I'm sure you will do just fine. Just be confident and make that $$$.

Good luck tonite and keep us posted on how you did.

Just dance really slow you'll do fine. If you do happen to fall no biggie just try to make it seem like it was part of your routine. hehehe I fell like a gazillion of times when I first started and always tried to play it off.

If you are allowed to do floorwork and you feel panicky, just go down on your knees and rotate your hips,or lie on your back and arch your back while running your hands over your body(though not your naked crotch please!). That should calm you down and it looks damn sexy!

you're lucky you're allowed to do floorwork at your "classy club" with no pole... the club i started at has no pole and no floorwork, and is on an elevated stage 3feet wide 3 feet off the ground.

i wouldn't take the xanax.... that might make you sleepy and dependent on it... but rescue remedy works really well for my stage fright and anxiety.

another thing that helps is going up to the customers at your rack and talking to them for a bit, it helps me get out of my head a bit and focus more on what i'm there for- making money.

O.M.G. I totally bombed out yesterday at a club I just pd. 320.00 for a permit,I totally freaked out with stage fright and after a couple of hrs. of waiting at the bar I left,I probley could have made money when it got busier(but then owe fees) but I didn't want to put even more pressure on myself I was already feeling like shit cuz I couldn't go on stage.I have danced for 13 years at alot of different clubs,I'm not a great dancer,no pole tricks(never confident enought to try) even a simple swing around the pole only happened once in a (vodka) blue moon.Shoes have always been an issue,I can walk, table dance, even run in 6 in. but on stage I feel like I'm gonna fall if I don't have something to hang onto so walking to the edge for a tip is a big big deal to me,the stage at this club were so high and huge!I guess I need to find a club with lower stages...?still I buckled and felt like I was gonna throw up,I felt sexy all week, new out fit....then in the club I felt like a hag.I will give it another try,I'm trying to go back after being out for 2.5 years!!My husband just lost his job(closed down,no notice.)we have been struggling,I have had 4 shitty jobs in 2 years.I want to expand a small biz. I started years ago.So we decided I should TRY to go back, what a disappointment.I'm so depressed.I have another club in mind but they said to lose 20 pds and come back.In the m eantime I'm gonna be bustin my ass in a factory for 7 bucks an hr. 7 days a week in a pretty blue hair net.By the end of summer/fall I will give it another shot,I'm sure that 20 pds will be worked off. I'm sure the stage fright will come back, next time I will be buzzed and I will make sure I have an old customer come in for sure money,I have kept in touch with the ones who were good to me.Xanax is very dangerously addictive, been there done that after the club I was at for 4 years totally redid stages,I walked in and about shit!I tried to leave but the owner said I didn't have to go on stage at all, that worked for a while but when we'd be short girls I felt bad and they gave me hell, then one day the d.j. begged me to go up and just hold the pole-all gilrls in v.i.p......Chunky shoes, xanax and vodka.I got fat and dependent on pills/alch. I'm clean now and trying to take care of myself,I don't know if I can do this without a buzz!! Time's running out for me I'm 43(look 33) so tic toc...
