The mortality rate here is twice the national average.

Who was it, Neil young that said its better to burn out than fade away?

I don't understand how the mortality rate could be twice as high since everyone dies eventually. Do you mean homocide?
Mortality rate is premature death, usually accidents, overdoses and suicides. We used to hang out quite a bit. One time I pulled over for an ambulence without using my turn signal and he was like, "you're supposed to signal- you can get a ticket if you don't signal." He was very particular. I suspect he knew he was at the top of his game and didn't see anywhere to go after that. That was just the way he was.![]()
"Everything went OK, Scott said, except for "one little problem," a guy who kept hovering around him while he was performing. "He was on top of me," trying to figure out the magic tricks.
Scott finally said, "Sir, can you back off."
The man who was dying of curiosity was Clint Eastwood.
"So Jason told 'Dirty Harry' to back off," Billups said."
He sounds like he was a cool guy to know. Sorry for your loss...
Sorry to hear it. The good die young.
& I have to honest, I hated Las Vegas. I sensed a "lacking in the soul area" to paraphrase another SW-er. Many factors combine to make the place a harsh environment.
Yeah, he used to call himself "mentalist to the stars." If you're intetested, there's still a few pictures of celebrites up on his myspace. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=170323823
He loved to talk about celebrities but I was a such a brat I only wanted to hear about ed norton. I begged him to let me keep the 10 of diamonds ED NORTON SIGNED but he said that one was too special. His favorite movie was the Illusionist, so I son't blame him.
I guess I feel bad was because the last time I saw him he wanted to talk. I said we could have coffee or somthing but I didn't. I know its not my fault. I didn't do anything wrong, butI had been a better friend- ya know, let him know he was needed. Oh well. Lesson learned.

How sad. It often seems like people leave this world when they are at the top of their game, like they've offered what they were meant to and it's time to move on.
my highschool crush got shot was shot to death in las vegas...

Lucky One!
Jason and I were good friends. It's such a tragedy what happened to him. I still can't believe it. His memorial was beautiful. There was even a beautiful shooting star(looked more like a fireball) that flew across the sky before friends and family began their speeches. I'd like to think that was his last magic trick for all of us.
One of the many memorable moment I had with him was when he let me read some letters that children wrote to him. He did a career day at an elementary school. All the childrens letters thanked him for his show and said they wanted to grow up and be like him (all in broken/mispelled english). I was the sweetest things I ever read. He will truly be missed...
I'm not surprised the mortality rate is so high out here. We have the worse hospitals and health care. Crime is INSANE that as I type, theres a helicopter hovering across the street looking for a fugitive. This happens almost nightly. I'm afraid to leave my house after dark. It's just that bad in Vegas...
"Where there is love there is life"-Mahatma Gandhi
"Be The Best, F!ck The Rest"- P.P.
^^^Wow, we both have good taste in friends! Yeah, it was cool he did volunteer work with kids. Kids are special because they're so young and influential.
Crime is really scary here and the health care is horrible. I worry about that a lot. I'm glad that you made it to the memorial. He will be missed...
