They're both really the same thing. Shiksa's derogatory because its root is "impure."
Didn't you know - Shiksas are for practice!

LOL! If I had a dollar for every time I heard that "practice" line, I'd be rich!
Hubby is jewish, I was raised hardcore Catholic (catholic school as a kid, the whole 9 yards).
What happened? I grew up, married a jewish guy, and we're both essentially agnostics these days. LOL!
I agree with Hardcandee. Goyah is not derogatory per se.

So being a shiksa isn't a bad thing? I was wondering since my fwb said I know a lot about Jews for a shiksa. Thought it was cute until I looked it up!

It can be (and technically is), but most of the time I don't think people mean it that way.

Not a threadjack, but a legitimate question- I want to convert but I'm only 1/16 Jewish through my father's side. What does that make me to more "Jewish" Jews?
Will I always be a wannabe? If I marry a full Jew, does that help?
I do care about this- learning about Judaism is one of the few things that centers me right now.

I know it's best for you to study independently since the religion passes down through the mother not the father. Marrying a Jew doesn't give you the automatic conversion.

To the very religious Jews, you'll always be a wannabe. But for most (regardless of the 1/16th) conversion is a legitimate process that incorporates you into the Jewish faith.
Like to my grandmother, my cousin's wife (who converted in our synagogue) years ago is still not a "real" Jew. But that's really a different generation and most mainstream Jews are more accepting.

I've never heard "goyah," just goy. Goy means "nation" and it's just a neutral term for a gentile. "Shiksa," OTOH, means "abomination" and it is NOT a nice thing to call someone, although a lot of people throw it around affectionately.

No, it does not make you Jewish at ALL. It won't make you more Jewish and a full Jew won't marry you if you're not Jewish... so it's to the books with you.
(Just for record, the only reason you can't be Jewish from your father is because paternatity can never be proven.)
And we call it Goyim here. o_O
And Shiksa is VERY derogatory. It means impure/bad/abomination... like kosher means good/pure/holy. It's the opposite of kosher, put it that way.

Goyim is just the male plural form of goy.

Ah! Yes. That explains a lot because the only time I heard it was directed at a few men.

"-im" (eem) always implies plural male.
"-ot" (oat) likewise means plural female.

If you can get past the difficulties of learning a new alphabet (Alef Bet!) then everything else is relatively straight forward.
