Default Vegan awsomeness - smartdogs and chocolate soy milk

I'm actually not vegan but my sister in law is and I found some awesome substitutes for normally pretty bad non vegan foods. I mean this stuff is actually WAY better than the originals!

Hot dogs are usually around 10 grams of fat... smart dogs are 0 grams!

And chocolate soy milk tastes WAY better than chocolate milk... and without the sticky aftertaste!

Any how thought i'd give y'all the heads up I LOVE these two things. I think chocolate soy milk is like crack

Yeah! Silk brand! mmmmmmmmmm.... soooo gooood.

Yeah I think regular dogs taste better... but I'll take a bit of taste in exchange for 10 grams of fat.

That's just insane isn't it? One effing hot dog - 10 grams of fat. I was shocked when i found that out. I thought i was eating well cause i was eating protein... boy was i mistaken!

idk. i was vegetarian for 7 years and i used to eat veggidogs back then so i guess i just got used to it.

But chocolate soy milk MMMmmmMMMmMMMmMmmmmmmwwhov iheiogchq fi!!!!!!!!!!

This may sound crazy but I seriously can't taste the difference between most brands of hot dogs. They all taste the same! So Smart Dogs or any other Vegan dogs are a great snack for me. I feel like I'm not missing anything without the meatiness. Another favorite veggie meat of mine is veggie-salami slices on sandwiches or crackers. Nummy.

I know right? it seems like everything has something bad about it. fresh veggies have pesticides... organics are genetically modified... like fuck! aren't those supposed to be the best for you?

Oh well I just eat what feels good to eat which is a lot of health food - even tho theres bad press about it you never know it could just be propaganda. I'm a conspiracy theorist when it comes to the food industry. I think the man wants us to get fat and lazy and sit in front of the tv to distract us from having ambitions... ambitions in the masses is a scary thought for people in power... any how. that's just my way of looking at it.

^ totally agree. the man wants us to eat crappy food and have no ambition... which is why they advertise mcdonalds way more in lower-income mostly black communities.

    IMO.... soy > dairy
    soy < hemp, almond, rice
raw nut milk > hemp, almond, rice

Dairy is full of hormones and steroids and antibiotics, the cows are not treated humanely and dairy causes inflammation in the body because our bodies are not made to process lactose past 1 or 2 years of age. It is meant for baby cows, and it's meant to be consumed in it's raw, fresh state, not processed and pasteurized, frozen, turned into cheese and ice cream.

Soy has been used for thousands of years in Asia, but not to the extent we eat it. In Asia, it is fermented (soy sauce, tempeh) and eaten in moderation. In America, is it processed into ice cream, milk, tofu, fake meat products, cream cheese, etc. While these are IMO healthier alternatives than their dairy and meat counterparts, the excess consumption of soy isn't healthy because soy contains isoflavones, which mimic estrogen and can cause hormonal problems. In men it can cause anger and aggression.

Hemp, Rice and Almond milk are all great alternatives, however they are processed to be put in the box you buy in the store, so really the best alternative is raw nut milks you make yourself.

Cashews, brazil nuts, hemp nuts, almonds, hazelnuts and pretty much EVERY nut can be made into a nut milk by putting it in a blender with water, you can add a little cocoa powder or vanilla bean to flavor it, agave or stevia to sweeten. You just blend it and then strain it with a cheesecloth bag. It's super good, better than storebought for sure.

If you are worried about soy avoid products that use GMOs. We typically drink Almond Milk (made by Diamond) or Rice Dream rice milk. They are both delicious. They are lower in calories than soy too.

hmmm.... do they have chocolate rice dream??? i could go for that. chocolate hemp milk sounds like the best thing in the world ever... too bad where i live right now even soy milk is still considered exotic hippie food....

i agree about the raw nut milk too... do you do the whole raw food thing? i try to do as much raw, but i am totally addicted to cooked foods. it's not even about the taste, it's my weak digestive system esp. pregnant.

if we are going to get into things to avoid don't even get me started on "natural flavors".... it's basically a legal way of saying "secret ingredient" and i'm sorry but i don't like secrets when it comes to my food... but *sigh* it's so hard to find ANYTHING without it! seriously. give it a try one day to go to a regular super market and only buy things w/o natural flavors. it's hard!!!! %98 of things available in the typical market have this black label slammed across their ingredients list... wtf?

even my chocolate soy milk and smart dogs have it you gotta choose your battles sometimes i guess.

They make the Almond Breeze and Rice Dream in chocolate. I prefer the almond chocolate though. That is a shame that you can't find these things in your store. They have them in all our local grocery stores in their organic area. I too live in a town where soy is considered odd but somehow we have it at our stores!

vegan sausage is pretty awesome if you eat regular sausage and don't want all the fat. I recommend Gimme Lean brand. Tastes pretty legit and 60 cals perserving and 0 fat.

And vegan ribs from Gardenburger taste like real ribs, so again, great if you don't want all the fat and gristle.

I don't like Smartdogs, but St. Ives makes a pretty good one. it does have like 10 grams of fat in it.

oh, and try vegan eggnog during the holidays. It's lowfat, but it's twice the calories of regular soymilk. But then, eggnog is like 4 times the calories of milk.

I make lattes with it because I eggnog lattes like nobody's business.

The Chai one is pretty awesome too.

oh yeah, and soy makes baby boys gay because it contains estrogen. I read that news story too.

And oysters and turkey are high in testosterone. So careful feeding that to girls

Where in the hell do you get all this amazing vegetarian food? We don't seem to have shit around here, and I don't want to go all the way to Austin to get groceries. All I have is crap-mart and HEB so I'm pretty much stuck with boca burgers. They're good, but it gets a little redundant after 3 months.
