So I went to a local theater to see Dark Knight (again) tonight.
I went early to get tickets this afternoon, went 45 minutes early to ensure good seats.
It was fairly full, but not packed.
The trailers start, everything's fine...then this group of 3 comes in and tries to find seats together in the top prime spots. Of course, there are none.
Mind you, there are about 20 seats scattered up top (just not together), and 40 completely empty at the bottom (yes, I counted). They make a big, noisy fuss about not finding seats...then go and get their friend, a manager (I know it's their friend, they kept hugging and kissing him and asking him about their plans tomorrow) and asks him to ask the entire crowd to move.
He TURNS OFF the movie, the lights come back on. The manager says it's a sold out movie (despite over 60 empty seats now 15 minutes after the start time) and that we have to move. He asks myself and my friends to move, and at this point I'm ticked. I tell him we came early to get those seats, that the tickets cleary say "first come-first serve", and he tells me I'm being unreasonable, and that he won't start the movie until we move. Some other kind souls did move, so the three people got to sit together, and the movie started.
I'm just really annoyed. What's the point of going early, if you can just go grab a manager and have everyone move for you after it starts? I was pretty ticked the manager saw fit to move several hundred people so his friend could have her ideal spot.
RAWR!
I wanted to complain, but the guy was the theater manager. I'll probably write a letter to that theater, and AMC main anyway.
