    Default quick question

I live in a house that has 3 apartments. COPS have been outside with flashlights for awhile and tried to wake up another apartment but not mine. I've been waiting and waiting for them to leave so I can go to sleep. Should I go ask them what is up or if they need anything? Been over an hour now.......

I think this is one of those situations where you just sit tight. You have no idea what you may be walking into the middle of.

lol i don't mean to laugh but you can't realy ask the cops to leave becuse you are trying to sleep. Plus if there is crime in my building id sleep better knowing the cops got rid of it.

    Yes, ask what's goin' on.

I visited my sisters, and the cops set up a perimeter. After about 20 minutes (I let them get situated), I went and asked what was goin on. You never know if you may have some relevant info. Maybe the person has not been heard of for awhile.

LOL, I wasn't planning on asking them to leave, silly My neighbours have actually been big trouble and I know a lot about them so I thought I might be useful to them.

Turns out next door was a break-in but luckily no violence so we're dealing with property damage/theft only.

^ It was your next door neighbor? That would make me a little worried, especially if they're trouble. Just keep yourself safe!

My husband and I were condo hunting in Florida a couple weeks ago and we pulled up to a former apartment complex turned condos and the cops were out there with 2 cars that had their windshields smashed in. We went up and asked them what happened because if that was the norm we didn't even want to see the place! Turns out the same guy owned both cars and it was probably an angry ex girlfriend or something.

Unfortunately I'm scared living here but there isn't much I can do until my lease is up. It's not that bad, but I live in a rough part of town and I'm not used to it.

Newmoon, admit it. You are pissed off that the cops are taking ages and you really want to tell them to hurry up or fuk off

Its not worth getting involved tho, Id stay quiet as a mouse if it were me. I have a pyscho neighbour right now and Im getting good at staying quiet as a mouse when pissed off.

It's more that I wanted to know what was up. My neighbours, a couple, are physically abusive and their fighting disturbs me a lot. I keep waiting for the cops to take them away. Unfortunately they weren't there for them.

How wierd, thats what I got next door too!

My neighbours are still into thier 6 month trial period, so Im gonna get a complaint letter to the landlord. Sometimes that stops them renewing the lease. Does it work that way where you are?

Unfortunately not. Practically everywhere you have to sign a 1-year lease. But I'm pretty sure the landlord could get them kicked out because they have done thousands of dollars worth of damage to the property. I have no idea if he is aware. I don't know who the landlord is so I can't report it.

^^Who did you sign the lease with? There must be a phone number somewhere- what you'd call for a plumbing problem or the like. CALL. Complain, so that there is a record of complaint. Even if they don't do anything. If it's really that disruptive, you don't have to live like that. Like really loud noises/ fears for your safety. If the neighbours are constantly making an ungodly racket/ beating eachother, I'd call the cops myself.

I battled it out with the Ontario Tenant Board and didn't have to pay a cent to leave the Vanier hell mouth I lived in last fall. The landlord whoever won't be happy to help, but they'll give in if you make them.

I know who my landlord is but I have no idea the landlord of my neighbours. Do you know if there is a way to search for the landlord by the address? It's not the same guy for sure. I have many records of complaint with the police

Hmm, your landlord might want to help you out and have the resources to do so. After all, it's in his best interest to keep the cops out of the areas where his property is! (Unless they are thick as thieves, but I still think it would be good to ask your landlord)
