Default Clothing for very petite dancers

I am having difficulty finding outfits to fit me - any advice would be appreciated.

I am 5'0", 97lbs, but a 36D bra size. Why are so many things for dancers "one size". Are they kidding? One size my ass....

99% of things, even the "small" skirts, are HUGE in the waist. I don't get it. I would think that a "small" in an exotic dancewear store, would actually be SMALL. My waist isn't ridiculously tiny, it's about 23-24" (I think), and my hips are about 32".

I have heard some things about "Elegant Moments"? Is this a good brand to try out? Does anyone have a similar body-type or similar sizing problems? Maybe you could direct me to an online shop for petite dancers, or offer up some tips. I'm all ears! Right now, I'm stuck with 2 little skirts that barely stay up on my hips. I am dying for something that actually fits.

Also...do any of you get your costumes/outfits tailored to fit your body?

Do you have a costume lady that comes into your club sometimes? Sometimes they make stuff. There's a place here called Aphrodite's Closet that can make stuff as well. Definately check around your area.

Maybe a tube dress of some sort? Your measurements are small but they're not abnormal or anything. You should be able to find something.

I'm not sure if they have a costume lady - it's still my first week. I will definitely ask tomorrow. I also wondered if housemoms do any kind of sewing/alterations? Is that common or no?

I'm opposite, bigger on the bottom than the top. Some stores sell outfits where the top and bottom are sold separately so you could get small on bottom and large on top.

I want YOUR body!!! I'm your height but with a thicker build.

The clothing company Rampage sells lingerie in XSmall size...As for stripperwear, I'd have items taken in by a seamstress and/or custom made. Honestly, it would be worth it to tailor your outfits, since you have an exceptionally unique figure.....

PS Retail outlets like Ross and TJMaxx get a lot of over-size bras and odd-sized lingerie...That's where I picked up a lot of Rampage lingerie but gave away some of it because of the snug fit. It's worth looking into, you won't spend a lot to find something there.

I'm 5'0 and 104lbs and have the same problem. "one size fits all" means "one size fit everyone... except me". I even alter my panties.

These are the things that I have found helpful:

    1) I totally agree with Madmaxine: Get a good alterations lady. Someone who does good work, you feel comfortable with, and who won't try to rip you off because you're a dancer.

    2) Be careful about ordering clothing from online or from cataloges. It's hard to tell the dimensions (height, actual cup size, ect) of the model. What looks one way on her could look completely differnt on you. If you do order form a catalogue or online, just make sure they have a good return policy.

However, regardless of how much larger an outfits fits (within reason that is), the better your alterations lady is, the better of a chance that she'll be able to work her magic and make it the perfect fit for you.

Can't you buy some skirts at kid stores and then cut off the bottom of a tank to be either sporty or girl next door look?

I don't have this problem but I see TINY dancers all the time and they all start off in clothes. If anything ask the other tiny dancers where the hell they get their stuff.

L&L I think still has some stuff to sell in one of the forms at the bottom of the main page, she's really tiny too (but taller, I don;t know if that makes a difference).

I totally understand...I'm 4'11 and weigh 130 so while the tops always fit me, the bottoms don't because I have big hips and ass. I still have my matching top/thong sets, but as far as everything else, I've switched to clothes. Or I'll just get a 1 piece like a romper...

Otherwise, like its been said before, check and see if you can get your outfits custom made. That way they will be the perfect fit AND you'll have your own creative touch to it.

Yes! I love this idea. I sometimes buy girl's sizes ...I never thought of that. Limited Too or something....and I could cut and be creative...yaah! Thank you!

I also found out our housemom DOES sew - she altered a dress for someone else working this afternoon. If I find something I LOVE but it doesn't fit, I'm going to take it to her!

^^ awesome that your house mom sews; that's so convenient. I always had to have the costume lady hem up my gowns so they didn't drag on the floor (yeah, I'm short )
