Forget that the number 18 has been jackhammered into our brains.
What age minimum would you like to see to work as a stripper?

Age is just a number, man. Old souls only
I think the minimum age should be 21.
21 would be fantastic.

I personally wasn't emotionally ready until 21-22 but I don't know what other people are like so I don't really know what I think the law should be.
60 for everyone but me![]()
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I'm in general agreement...21
I'm not who I say I am.

I agree with 21. Though I'd have been on the streets at 19 if that were the case!

I'd like it to be 21. I was crazy at 19.

Agreed..I think 21 is a great age.

There's a new girl at my club who is freshly-eighteen and every time I look at her I just think "she is way too young to be here." She's a little street-rat who smokes like a chimney and when I found out she was born in 1990 I think my jaw literally dropped. The fact that girls born in the '90s are now legally allowed to strip boggles my mind. Just...WTF. I was cognizant when she was just being born. She's younger than my baby sister. BRAIN. CAN'T. HANDLE.
Anyway, my point is that 21 should be the minimum. The end.
"Lying's the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off...but it's better if you do."

^ Haha, even though we both started at 20. I feel like I was ready, but definitely wouldn't have been at 18.

Ha, true...I think I was ready too but then I was like a month away from turning 21. I I just don't think many 18-year-olds can really separate themselves from the job or have the ability to distinguish who they are outside of being a stripper. You're still developing an identity at that age and in such an intense atmosphere as a strip club, I think it might fuck with the general process of becoming who you are, yanno?
"Lying's the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off...but it's better if you do."
21 no question.
That way there is NO underage drinking, and no question if a girl is old enough to work or not.
Plus, it's a few years difference between then and HS, so hopefully the HS drama llama has ran it's course.

I think 20 is old enough. I was dancing when I was barely 20, and I felt like I waited too long. Lol.
18 does seem young though, but honestly I think I would have been ready at 18...probably 17 even. The concept of dancers in high school doesn't seem right though. That's why I vote 20.
Does anyone really think that the crazy teenagers become less crazy into their twenties? I guess it really depends on the woman herself. If you can go in and do it for the cash, not drink/ drug it up, not give your money to your boyfriend...but I know plenty of thirty year old dancers who can accomplish none of these things.
yanno?
Yeah, however a lot of the burnt out 30 year old strippers got their start as 18 year olds... patterns develop early, to be sure!
I made a smartass comment in this thread earlier, but I started when I was 21. I think starting earlier isn't a good policy. First of all, you're at a disadvantage in most places because you can't hustle the floor -- and juice bars tend to have more disreputable names -- and also, I think there's a lot to be said about the kind of hyper lifestyle inflation that can happen when you transition from, i.e., living rent free w/ your parents to being able to support a much more extravagant lifestyle at 19 than your peers, that generally is not a positive thing.
18. If a girl isn't emotionally mature to handle dancing, she'll either learn some tough lessons or stop. Either way, it's not hurting your money to have a younger, inexperienced person working in the club. Young girls are just as likely to do extras as older dancers, so that won't take away from your money either.
I started when I was 18, but I am emotionally mature, I do not drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. If I wasn't able to dance until age 21, I wouldn't be able to do all the things I've and learn all the things I've learned- the tough way in some cases, but valuable lessons nonetheless. I also would definitely not be able to pay my college tuition (15,000) for the next 3 years.

^ i also had a good work ethic at a young age. and depending on how you grow up, one can the value of money at any age. if the minimum age for dancing were 21 me and my daughter would be homeless

I'd have to say 21 too. I've seen way too many 18 year olds come in and get sucked in to all the wrong things. I didn't start until I was 28, I'm a late bloomer LOL! I think that if I had started at 18 I'd be in a completely different place now.
There are some exceptions to the rule, there have been a few younger girls that come into dancing and treat it as a job. But they are few and far between.

Legal drinking age in Australia is 18 so I dont see a problem with girls starting dancing at that age if they are mature. I know I was definately NOT mature enough at that age to dance. I started dancing at 26 although I wish I started at around 22-23.
It's quite subjective though. Some people mature earlier than others.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
yup, for some people it may be different, but I started working when I was 14 during school and summers, and had lots of part time jobs all the way through high school, bought a lot of my own clothes and paid my car insurance and gas. I was lucky that my parents got me a car, but I'm sure that I could have done it by saving money if i really wanted to, although it would be a very inexpensive old car... like a 1990 ford taurus or something like that.
I knew the value of money when I started dancing, I just didn't know the value of myself. I don't think you can really put an age that that is understood at though, it's different for everyone.

I think 18. I started dancing at that age and it really helped me out financially, and made me independent, and a stronger woman. I wouldn't change that for a thing! Plus I had traveled all over the country dancing before my 21st birthday....such wonderful experiences! I've known girls who stated at 25 who were more niave then I was at 18 when I started!

I haven't been 21+ so I don't know how different I'll be then but I don't feel emotionally scared, don't do crack and don't cause drama. I know more druggies and irresponsible people who are 21 than ones who are 18. I've always gotten along with older people though, so maybe I'm different but really people can be drama llamas and naive at any age.
I feel like I could have started dancing at 16. I'd probably of been a lot happier. I don;t think they should change the age or anything but I would have been fine if not in a better place now if I had started then.
