Default I think I'm getting a stress fracture!

My right shin is KILLING me. I looked up the symptoms of a stress fracture and it sounds spot on.

"A stress fracture occurs when the forces are much lower, but happen repetitively for a long period of time; these injuries are also known as "fatigue fractures." Stress fractures are commonly seen in athletes who run and jump on hard surfaces, such as distance runners, basketball players, and ballet dancers."

Sounds like it would be a pretty common dancer injury. I'm afraid this is the beginning of the end of my stripping career.

Have any of you experienced this? Did taking time off help? Will it get better?

I have a stress fracture in my fourth third metatarsal from figure skating, and since I started dancing it's started to act up again, only when I work too much nights in a row, or go back after taking a break for awhile. I have to wear really comfy shoes when I'm not working to support it. I've been researching supplements to take to heal it and make my bones stronger... and what I've found that I'm going to try soon are horsetail, silica, calcium, vitamin D, biotin, glucosamine and chondroitin. I'm going to try a combination of the first three once i can get some free samples and see how it works. So far the only thing that works besides supplements is just staying off it until it's healed enough to not hurt bearing weight.
"Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above."

i've had quite a few stress fractures from my stint in the army and i can tell you that a bit of rest from repetative activitys and major liquid caluim suppliment help a great deal. you can find the liquid calcuim at almost any health food store or at gnc. tastes like vanilla chalk but works wonders. also arinca pills help speed things up. the before and after test results for my method showed great results.
    i hope it helps!!!

I have chronic shin splits. When I would dance hard for many days in a row I'd be in so much pain walking was a chore.
Get really good insoles for your regular tennis shoes, and wear them ALL the time (obviously except when you're in your heels for work). I noticed a HUGE difference. I went into a highly regarded local running store... got fitted for the correct shoes and the best insoles for my foot. I have been singing their praises since. My insoles are called Superfeet, and they come in different varieties.
Also, Ice and Ibuprofen can help. Ice before and after work/exercise. This will help with inflammation, which helps with pain.
    I'm not who I say I am.

Sounds like a shin splint. It's when the ligament pulls off the bone, and fucking hurts. It's from using the muscle only one way.

When I was training as a runner, my coach told me to sit on my freezer and hang a paint can off my toes. I'd flex my foot to lift the can up. It REALLY helps for shin splints. Try stretching before work and during your shift too. Flex your foot up high as you can, repeat.

Also, naproxen. While it's inflamed, taking time off would help too.

Foot stress fractures are easier to get than in the shin. I agree its probably a shin splint, but if it feels like a fracture rest now before it gets worse, because once its bad its bad for a while.

^ Yea, I'm taking it really easy. I'm only swaying back and forth onstage, and I'm sitting and talking more (trying to get VIP) than pushing dances.

Tuition is coming up, so taking time off isn't an option But once school starts I'm only working Th-Sat.
