    Default Morning Energy!

What's better to have in the morning to keep your energy throughout the day? So many breakfasts I see have meat and dairy... and I can't pick! I can only have one, so I need to figure. Is having a dairy based protein drink and a banana good or is it better to have lamb sausages... or is it best to have carbs and vegetables?

I'm guessing carbs and dairy is the best idea... but I wonder if the early morning protein in meat would be a good idea.

Anyway... what combination is best to promote long lasting energy? Carbs and meat? Carbs and dairy? Carbs and vegetables? Dairy and vegetables? Meat and vegetables?

I was just about to go post on a different forum that since cutting out dairy and wheat and living pretty much on raw vegan food Im waking up much quicker and feeling way more energetic. For the most part Ive cut out meat too but on tour there were usually 3 days of the week where there was no choice but to have some and it didnt make too much difference. I noticed it did slow up my digestion though.

nothing hard to digest, that means no combining meat and dairy, meat and vegetables, meat and carbs, carbs and vegetables... etc.

i think the best thing to have in the morning is plain fresh fruit.
or... a smoothie made w/ fresh fruit and hemp protein powder... that's what i'm doing these days.

oh and sublingual b-complex vitamins for a boost

Fruit is healthy but not very high energy. Doesn't pack a good pick me up.

I'm eating steamed bok choy now and drinking berry tea... but again, I think it's not enough for energy...just for food substance.

It's always good to have your advice Kiera... I always know with you what you recommend is vegan and therefor usually kosher.

okay.... what about fruit + yogurt?? active live cultures, protein and calcium would make it more filling and long lasting... and the acidophilus keeps your digestive system working smoothly so you don't get sluggish and tired.

    is yogurt kosher?

Depending on the brand, yes... as long as it doens't have any gelatin from horses or things. Some yogurts have gelatin. But yeah, I know where to get kosher yogurt. Thanks for the little sciencey talk about it.

Sorry Ms. Q, I don't think I'm ready for raw just yet!

raw is the best way to get energy from food though

what about nuts for protein?? raw almonds and pistachios and hazelnuts are good. I think for the best effect you have to eat them separately from fruit.

I'm reading a lot about food combining and it pretty much tells me that everything i have done my whole life is wrong- the whole "needing to get all 5 food groups" at each meal is totally bogus.

NUTS! Nuts are a brilliant idea to keep my energy throughout the day!! I can keep them in my car and snack in my handbag... YES THANKYOU!

Yeah the whole kosher thing has taught me the same. I'd just like to eat at restaurants, yannow? D:

Its pretty easy - easier than cooking it
I wasnt meaning to go completely raw. Its easy to grab a handful of nuts which I see have already been mentioned and dried fruits are good too though not always technically raw and a piece of fruit or whatever.
I usually cook a bowl of brown rice with some sea salt to start the day though.
This came up on a different forum because a couple of people said theyd be vegan except they live high energy lifestyles. The vegans seem to have more energy as it happens.

The days I have the most energy I eat egg whites and a ton of different veggies all cooked in an omelet. Those days, I feel like I rise FAST! I get a TON of vitamins, calcium and protein. The other good news for you on this Lys. is that there is neither dairy or meat. So...you can choose if you want sausages, or if you want cheese on your omelet and a cup of milk!
It's a win win (oh and can always add a handful of nuts on the side..the omelet itself is VERY low calorie).

I used to do 2 Egg Beaters with ham and cheese, a piece of whole wheat toast, and a glass of V8. Kept me full all morning and into the afternoon - and I felt amazing! Wish I had time to make that every morning

I'm glad that works for you! However I can't have ham... or meat with cheese... do you have an alternative I could perhaps eat that might be similar? I can have dairy before meat so if I intake a glass of milk before I eat some eggs and turkey maybe?

Do you like veggies? I would sometimes do diced green peppers and onions in the eggs instead of ham....OR...mix the eggs with salsa.

    Meatless and yummy!

I like a good soymilk and fruit smoothie in the morning. My favorite is to use chocolate soymilk, banana, frozen strawberry with a dash of fresh squeezed lemon juice.

    Do you know about this?

You could also request at curezone.com that they open a Kosher forum - that could turn out to be a great resorce!

Can you have soy cheese substitutes. Like Vegan cheese. I hear some taste good. Then you could have "cheese" and meat at the same time.

Meat, egg, and veggie. My bestest breakfast is a sausage, an egg, and a pile of kale. The protien and b-12 get you going, and the dark greens keep you vitamin'd and digesting.

Oranges arent that huge, lol. Youre crazy with green veg - a whole cabbage, 3 bushels of bok choy :-D
How about some rice and a big handfull of nuts, a mug of dried fruit, 2 apples, a banana and 2 pairs maybe a carrot and a stick of celery?

Oh and some bok choy - whats it like raw? I am terrible with green veg, I only really like em juiced )-:
