Argh.
"Lying's the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off...but it's better if you do."
I posted about this in the Lounge... I think it's interesting, having it happen in a country with no strip clubs. It seems like their motivations are coming from a different place. Or maybe I'm just not familiar enough with Chinese culture to know how very similar it is!
“A lot of people expect Chinese women to be subdued and faithful, that we should marry and take care of kids at an early age,” she said. “But I don’t think that way — I want to be independent. I’ve been studying traditional Chinese dance for many years, but this is totally different. I feel in control when I do this. If I learn this well, I feel I can be a superstar. I want to be a superstar.”

thats a good one! Thanks for sharing!
I can see where the trouble comes in. I went to Hangzhou, China last year. I wore shorts out one day and got some of the dirtiest looks I've ever seen. People just stared at me and I couldn't figure out what was going on. I was totally unprepared for that reaction. The area we were staying at was on the outskirts of the city (which was pretty large and industrial), but I guess it was a mostly rural population. But yeah, they're pretty uptight about dress. Except in Hong Kong, they dress just like us there. Worse sometimes.
