    Default uh oh hair problem

Tues i went to get my hair done. it hadn't been cut or colored in like 5 months, it was so overdue! i wanted to just get lowlights, highlights and then do a funky color in a few places, like pink or red.
somehow we decided it would be ok to go dark brown (like my natural color) and do the bright red streaks all over. i liked it a lot that day at the time, but now after having it a few days i think it's just too dark for me; i used to have brown hair with blonde highlights. i like the red i think there's just too much of it.
i made an appt today at a diff place to see if i could just get a few highlights done, and the girl basically said if she did highlights on the red it'd turn orange and that i'd just have to wait for it to fade. she said basically wait a month for it to fade and sold me a shampoo that is supposed to help fade it.
it's not that i hate it right now, it just doens't feel like me.
SO hair gurus- is this really all i can do? or should i get a second opinion?

I actually like it too. You could get highlights if you wanted. Bleach will eat through any color if left on long enough. Now when it fades it'll likely fade to a lighter shade of red then eventually copper.

I like it too, i've always wanted to try red. Red fades the fastest of every color, so in a week or so it should be toned down more.

it looks good! BUt i agree that it will fade superfast. I got my hair darkened the end of june and it was not as red as yours but dark brown with a reddish tint and now it looks light brown with blonde highlights again, you can't even tell how dark it was before .

I think it looks really good on you too. And like everyone else said, red fades pretty quickly. Like within a few weeks.

I like it but I see what you're saying. Could you get some ash highlights on the brown, or just some brown lowlights to offset the darkness of the brown and red together?

Even if you wait until it fades a little it's still going to lift to an yellow-orange. You could difinately go in and get some caramel highs put in sooner than a couple of weeks.

I love it. I'm actually going to save it in case I go red.

Did she bleach the dark brown and then dye it red?

thanks for the compliments guys! i still just don't know...i don't think it looks bad, like i said i think it just doesn't feel like 'me'.

joplin- i had highlights before, so she just dyed the underneath part the dark brown, and then did alternating streaks of the red and dark brown, she didn't bleach it.

i may try going back to the same girl in a few weeks and say i'd like to add some lowlights or highlights where the brown is, and see what she says. she said she used a semi permanent color so hopefully i can get it to fade a bit first.

    thanks guys!

I'm a natural redhead, but I dyed mine a bright red one time and I loved it but literally 2 weeks later all the color had washed out I was so bummed. Just wash your hair a lot and it'll come right out.

That's the point of coloring your hair! you get to be the fun red headed diva for a couple weeks!

It really does look great, IMHO I would leave it be and deal with it when it fades. You only live once might as well do something different! It might grow on u too!

I really like it, maybe it will just take some time to get used to it. Good luck. But it looks really hot.
