    Default Working An Entire Shift

I just started dancing this week, and worked 3 day shifts (M, W, F). My dilemma is this. After 4 or 5 hours, I want to go home. Even when I am making good money and the place is beginning to fill up (which is usually right around 4 or 5pm). I am tired out, usually shaky and hungry, and just generally "icky" and lose my motivation.

Technically, our day shift is from 11am-6pm. How long do YOU work? Do you take breaks? How do you keep your energy up and your motivation high?

I have been pulling decent money for my little 4 hour stints. Usually right around $100 an hour. I think I could really bank if I could toughen up and make it the full 7 hours. I just can't do it at this point, and need to know how!

I have issues with sitting down to eat a real meal at work (not real crazy about it). I also don't do energy drinks or caffeine in general (or alcohol). I just don't eat at work (maybe I should start eating protein bars?). I do drink a TON of water the entire time, so I'm always running to use the bathroom. I will take my shoes off for 2 or 3 minutes in the DR, but then I feel like I need to get back out there.

I would love some tips and advice on how to make staying for the full shift, more bearable. This is the biggest thing holding me back from my full potential right now.

    Thank you ladies!

Eating is important my dear. You are working, burning calories, your body needs fuel to keep moving. Now, I'm not saying order up a big steak and potatoes meal (yummy) but eat something like. Pack your lunch. If you dont' want to do that, bring some fruit, nuts. Protein bars are alright..but that's just like eating a candybar imo. Not that healthy.

Taking a break is important. If you feel the need to relax yourself a few times during your shift then do it. While you're back there, don't get involved in DR drama. You have "no opinion" about anything when they ask you what you think (it keeps the drama lama at bay)

If you're getting hungry, you've gotta eat. If you're not cool with eating on the floor, take your food. I've got one of those insulated lunch boxes and I'll take a small salad with chicken and about 10 minutes in the dressing room and chow down. It will help give you energy to stay the full shift.

It seems like the club is OK with you leaving early, will they be OK with you showing up late? If so that way you can make it to 6 and be there when the club gets busy.

For a year and a half I had to work 8 hour shifts. I brought so many small and healthy snacks. I just spaced out my snacks and it really kept my energy up. I also to not drink.

I know drinking water is great for you, but i do try to limit my fluid intake somewhat when i am at work. When you find a great person to dance for you don't want to feel like you have to pee the whole time!
I also hate having to wait for a stall when i want to be back out there.

.... idk most people work 8 hour shifts, i dont know how you have trouble with it, its way easier than an office job where you sit on your ass all day bored out of your mind. the only time i want to leave is if its slow. if im doing well i can keep going forever

is this the only job you have ever had? maybe thats why...
i definitely am getting lazier now that im stripping.

Oh Lord no I just came from an office job. I worked in the Internet/Technology field, and usually worked 40-50 hours a week at the office, and probably another 15 at home. This is however, my first physically demading job, and I do have a bad back. I think my problem is just getting used to so much activity. I have not been physcially active in SO long. Sitting at a desk for hours on end, and doing this are so different (for me at least). I need to gain some stamina dammit!

i guess im the opposite. i worked as a receptionist for ONE day and after like the 4th hour i was ready to tear my eyes out. all i had to do was answer phones and i just surfed the net and played stupid diner dash typegames all day and i couldnt stand it. stripping though doesnt really tire me out and im a lazy fatass (never exercise, just lay in bed all day till its time to work, hate using the stairs). maybe you are dancing too hard? i dont know...

I usually work 7 to 8 hour shifts but like you I wish to be done around the 5 hour mark. I tend to take it easy the first hour or so and the last hour so I don't get burned out too much.

You need to build up your stamina. You should bring some protein bars and eat those if thats the only thing you eat. Other than that toughing it out is the only other thing I can think to do.

Do you get enough sleep at night? Can you snag a VIP or is it just the social aspect thats draining you? If so, don't take the job so seriously. It's not worth over analyzing things while you're still there if it's going to wear you out and make you go home.

Well, everyone is different, but for me, I need to snack sometime during the day. Especially since I'm either doing stages or lapdancing, it is hard work. I am worthless if I get hungry/low blood sugar. That's probably the biggest reason I have for going home. So, I always bring stuff with me.

I'm not big at whole meals either. But great things that will help and are quick to eat are nuts (even chocolate covered ones), protein bars, apples, healthy smoothies, like Odwalla, pretzels and cheese. That's all stuff that I'll bring. I also eat right before work. It's my ritual, and I do it incase I get really busy and don't get a chance to eat later.

Also. I feel done usually after 6 hours. I don't think you are being lazy or anything. It's hard work, esp. since you stay busy, which it sounds like you are. So unless you want to make more money, you're doing fine. Although, I have noticed there is sometimes some money in that time around 6-7 o'clock. Guys who work until 6 can make it in. Anyway, bt it souds like you're doing great - $100 an hour from 11 to 4! Keep it up!

EAT! something light and healthy will be sure to help, i bring a banana and a trail mix, or bag of honey roasted peanuts. put some cereal in a sandwich bag and snack on that throught the day, blueberrys are also great.
and take a vitamin before work, i find it keeps my body and mind goin that extra couple hours.
try buildind up by doin one week at 5 hours then 5 and a half hours then 6 then 6 and a half and so on..

I've been dancing almost 5 years on and off and I thrive on working the Saturday night shift from 7:00PM-3:30AM. I love the energy and staying busy. I think you should definetely stick to day shifts for the time being, and look into bringing healthy snacks. You just started dancing so you can't expect to be able to do a 7 hour shift with no problems.

You really do need to eat a light snack or salad in the DR. I've worked a couple of day shifts and I used to be the same way you're describing and I was famished when I walked out the door. Just bring some snacks and give yourself time to build up your stamina!

I just love you ladies..thank you for all the replies. I am going to do my first evening shift tonight (6pm-12a), so I will eat a real meal BEFORE work. I'm also going to pack a bag of my own snacks to nibble on in the DR. Doh! No idea why I never thought of that. I always put off eating at work, b/c I didn't want to have to order it, find a place or person to sit down & eat with, etc. I felt like it would waste an hour of my money-making time. I'm gonna pack some chocolate covered peanuts and other stuff that's easy to eat. I like the idea of building up on the length of my shift too...I did 4 hours on Wednesday, 4.5 hours on Friday, and today I will aim for 6 hours, but if I make it 5 I will be happy too. Baby steps I suppose (literally). LOL!
