    Default Unreliable Dancers :(

I have started expanding my roster of dancers and started posting for ads to get new dancers. I put there that experience is not necessary, so I've been getting experienced and inexperienced dancers as well. I was all excited about getting a lot of new dancers -- I talk to them and everything is cool, but everytime I call them for parties, they are unavailable, unreachable, etc!!! I'm getting so frustrated. I have had much success with my current dancers but of course I'd want the luxury of sending out more dancers. Should I be more strict with the dancers?? What are rules/guidelines that other managers set for dancers? I need reliable dancers!!!

Yeah, sorry, I'm talking about private parties. Bachelor parties, birthday parties, office parties.

What kind of fines? If I fine them a couple hundred bucks, I think they'll just run off and never get back to me lol!

You can't fine a PP dancer!! It's her choice to work a shift and if she decides to shaft ya say something like, "If you don't work just say so and I won't offer you any more." and see how quickly they take the next shift.

I know, you're right! I always ask them nicely, hey, just tell me if you can or cannot do a party -- but please tell me in advance so I can get another dancer to go to the party. Don't get me wrong, it's not always like that all the time, I have great dancers who are professional. But I've just been concerned lately with these applicants all excited to go to a party then cancels out on the last minute or are unreachable. It sucks!

Listen, you're trying to run a business here. Them flaking out on you makes your company look unprofessional. Make them aware that you have a 3 strikes clause.

If they are not available to work that's fine..but if they accept and assignment w/ a no call/no show then that's a strike against them. Also, always have your client request a "back up girl" in case their #1 choice isn't available.

p.s. I've already requested that this be sent to PP. So hopefully it will get there soon.

Are they even accepting gigs, or can you not reach them at all after the interview? Maybe you should set up some kind of opportunity for them to see what they are getting into. I know if I did a PP I wouldn't even know what to do and would be freaked out, I'd need a buddy or something to show me the ropes the first time or two.

Do you think these girls are scared or do they just not show up. Most girls with non stripping jobs don't consider flaking out as too much of an option, that's why I'm thinking they might just be really confused and back out.

Take care of your reliable girls very, very well and be a hardass with the new/unreliable girls. Word will spread that working for you requires a certain degree of having one's shit together, but that it's worth it.

I like your idea of a 3 strike clause, thanks! And sorry about the category confusion when I posted the forum.

One particular example that I have is of an experienced dancer emailing me twice during the week to ask when "she could start," then a client requesting her and me saying yes, she's available. Then when I try calling her to send her to the birthday party I just keep getting voicemails. That kind of deal. Other examples would be them accepting the gig, having the address and all that but then would not be reachable during the day of the party. I can send other dancers for sure, but it's just no fun to have someone agree and them just suddenly disappearing.

I think I want to try out the "showing the ropes" kind of deal, my partner in Miami does that all the time with his new dancers.

Totally not trying to rain on your parade here, but you should NEVER give out the address until right before it's time for them to ride out to the party. I say that because, for all you know, they are attending the party, collect the fee, and make the tips.

Ugghhh, you're right! But I actually tell the clients, who they're supposed to be paying when the girl/guy gets there. Haven't had this problem before with another dancer showing up and getting the fee and the tips -- knock on wood, I hope that doesn't happen! I usually give them a few hours before so they can find the place on mapquest and whatnot.

Listen, (*ahem I've done it myself*) it isnt' hard to tell the folks throwing the party, "hey I'll knock off $50-$100 if you report we never showed." I'm just being honest..I admit I did it cause I was w/ a crappy agency.

I never met many dancers, including myself, that were reliable in the adult entertainment business. One of the perks of the industry IMO is to work when you "feel" like it.

I appreciate your honesty. The clients gets to lose their deposit though, I think I shouldn't worry that much if they want to lose the deposit to me. Lol!

I have two or three dancers that are really sweet, even if the travel time is 1 hour or so, and they're not really interested in going, they still go because they don't want to leave the client hanging. Here's hoping to get more sweet girls like that!!!

It goes with the territory. About 90% of the girls that ask to sign on with us never do a single party. It is really a numbers game. It is best to offer new dancers parties right away, and schedule them with one of your best and most reliable girls for their first gig. Always have a fall back plan in case the new girl bails out at the last minute.

Don't leave voice mail. Send text messages instead. If they don't get back to you in two hours, offer the party to someone else. A lot of people go days w/o checking voice mail.

Never guarantee a dancer selection. There is too many variables to "guarantee" a particular dancer. We had a male dancer get into an auto accident on his way to a party. We had to send a substitute dancer. Shit happens, and the agency can't control everything.

Usually the customers are happy to have any dancer, instead of getting no one at all.

I usually give a dancer but tell the client that if God forbid something happens to the dancer, he/she should allow us the opportunity to provide another dancer for the party. Actually, last night there was a dancer who got into a car accident too and he had to ride the train to the party, and was 3 hours late!

Unreliable dancers is why I stopped doing parties. I had two responsible dancers. Unfortunately, I often got calls for blondes, and neither dancer was blonde (one was male and one was a beautiful black girl. I am a brunette). I'll never forget I hired three girls (and me) for a bachelor party. The other girls (two blondes I knew from before, and a redhead recommended to me by a regular) never showed up for the party! I told the guys at the party I could call the black girl but they said no way. Turns out I left early because they were mad the other girls never showed up and decided to throw things at me. I ended up firing all of the no shows.

The reason I had dancers like those is due to what I got from ads. I ran ads all the time, and either the dancer never showed up for the interview, or she wasn't dancer material. I wasn't even that picky but wanted at least cute dancers, and most that showed up were far from cute (missing teeth, greasy hair, bad figure, etc.). The males I hired were usually pretty good though.

WOW....this thread makes me realize why my boss is never upset when I do miss a shift. It's always a complete accident on my part and other than 3 times where I messed up scheduling, I've never even been late.

Yeah, I know those girls on ads too. Tell you honestly I get hot applicants and then you talk to them, everything was cool and they're all excited and even emails and calls you to ask about parties for the week, but when you need them, they go AWOL. I had this guy last week that I wanted to send to this birthday party and last time we talked he told me he was going there in a batman costume! Day of the party, I just keep getting his voicemail. I've had some experiences like that with other dancers too.

If it's an accident, or within reason that it's not the dancer's fault or not within her/his realm of control, the of course that's okay. But stupid reasons like "oh, I lost my phone that night and then suddenly I found it somewhere, wow!" -- those reasons want me to strangle people.
