I have a 50" or so TV (not plasma, a pretty narrow rear projection) that I am putting in storage. I have no idea what to wrap it with, the original box is long gone.
Ideas?

Actually, yes! I had to do this to actually. The moving people wrapped up our electronic stuff in a couple heavy duty blankets and secured it with rope. They worked fine later. Just make sure the cord and all the electrical parts are covered. I'm assuming you're going to a storage facility and it's not in danger of getting wet or anything right?

What type of storage?
Watch how long you keep it in there, I bought a computer for my niece for whenever she visited me. I always put it in the closet when she left. One day it did nothing. I took it to the reair shop, and the motherboard was bad (unplugged and in closet for 2ish months). Basically, electronics go bad quick when you unplug it and forget about it.

I will have the tv and a computer (and all my other worldly possessions) in a climate controlled storage unit. After I move my stuff this week, I won't enter the storage unit again until January at the earliest.
I am wondering what I should do to prevent something like what you mentioned, glambman. I mean, the tv was only 1K but its not even a year old so I would like to keep it in good shape.

He told me to at least plug it in and turn it on once a week or two. That would be all your electronics, tv, comp, dvd/ vcr players, etc..
Aside from that, if it's in a cc unit, wrap it in old towels/ sheets.
