Okay, like many of you, it is absolutely crucial for me that certain impressionable people do not find out about my work. These are people that I live with. Is there anything that might have given you away? Besides the shoes and outfits which I can keep in my locker, I don't think I can keep it up for too much longer when I have 500$ in ones right now in my purse, my hair chronically smells like smoke, and maybe even a certain look about me. Has this ever happened to you? Has anyone ever found out when you didn't want them to know? How can this be prevented?

i dont care who knows about my job, if i acted like it was a bad thing, id be perpetuating an age old stigma. i dont care who knows.

i think your being paranoid, waitresses hav e alot of ones too, you can always trade them at the bar at then end of your shift.

Just have a good story prepared and maybe use the classic "I am a bartender/waitress."

I have blurted it out stupidly at a sales associate sort of job to some coworkers. Other than that, I haven't (other than hurting my back and having to explain it at a hospital a couple times). I don't mind if most people know but I don't want anyone that's related to me to know, or a boss for a job I care about (luckily I didn't really care about the job at Fred Meyer either lol).
    Order Avon through my website!

I'm like IBI, if you don't like me because of my job, not my problem. I've never hidden it.

Waitressing is probably the best cover story ever.

I went to the grocery store one day (after rolling out of bed at 4pm ) I threw on a t shirt, hat and sweats....and I just couldn't figure out why people kept staring at me. I figured I had glitter left on my face somewhere. I wiped my cheek and sure enough, glitter. No biggie.
The checkout guy asked my how my night was, the bagboy said something about working late, I figured they were looking at the glitter.
I didn't notice till I got home I was accidently wearing a hat with my club's name in big red letters.

So yeah, guess my neighbors figured me out real quick

Well ... I hide it from almost everyone ... but I travel when dancing so no one knows ( or probably even cares all that much ).
I travel so often that people barely know where I am let alone what I'm doing. I really don't know how you do it from people you live with, but I'm sure it can be done . I'm really curious what you say you do ? Do you just say you bartend ?

I am letting people slowly catch on though :
    oh look .....she's gone blonder
    oh look ...she's tanning now
ok look ... she's never done her nails ... but she does now .
    ect.

    Kylie : That's hilarious.

Sometimes when I'm bussing tables at work(the 'day job'), I stand up with my ass first. Who would have thought THAT was such a hard habit to break! LOL.

Also, when I started working there and people would introduced themselves to me, I'd trip up on my actual name. I'd start saying my stage name, catch myself, and then say my real name...and they would look at me funny.

Been outed twice. My brother caught me back home, and my best friend in LA found a shoe with money in it under my seat in the car, and figured it out pretty quick. Best friend took it well, brother pretends it never happened.

omg. me too. i work in a grocery store, so i'm constantly bending down to put stuff away and fix the shelves, and I always stand up like a stripper, and the manager always has good music on so i'm always accidentally doing little moves in the aisles. i think it's kind of funny. One of the co-workers mentioned that at my club they have hoola hoops, because i was talking about wanting to learn- and she suggested i get really good at it and then go work there.. lol. if she only knew. or maybe she does.

I also trip when introducing myself... saying my real name to new people is so strange!

but yeah, everything else i'm really careful about. i am really careful with my family, new people i meet, and strangers of course.

Ass up first for life. I even flip my hair and then look over my shoulder to see who is watching me. It's so inappropriate.

When strippers emphasize their ass when bend over and swish it to the side all sexy-like when they get up.

yeah... like instead of just rising up from the knees... you straighten your legs first, then stand up all sexy-like.

If I have to pick something up off of the floor I bend at the waist, ass out, I never squat down.

When I attended a business dinner with my husband one night, I bit my lip because I almost said my stage name when the restaurant owner introduced himself. And I nearly blurted something about a trip to VIP to a friend of the family when $200 was mentioned but I stopped myself just in time. So far it doesn't look like anyone has figured out what I do for a living. Keeping my fingers crossed.

See around 1:24 for the 'ass up' standing method.
