    Sad hi, newbie here!

i've been thinking about becoming a dancer for some time. I am 25 years old.

i'm a big woman, and none of the clubs near me hire women with my body type.

i recently went on a diet and have lost 40 lbs to date.

I live in Nassau County (NY).

Hi! I'm an ultra-newbie too. This week is my 2nd week of dancing!

This board has SO much great information and support. Congrats on dropping 40lbs! That's awesome.

I know it's hard sometimes for girls that have some more weight, but sometimes it really works to your advantage!

I'll never forget the night the biggest girl in my club had a stage FULL of black guys SHOWERING her with bills. She must've made at least a couple hundred on that one set! She made much more than I did that night that's for sure!

Sometimes you'll meet major jerk offs, but the ones that love you for who you are make up for it. You just have to really detach yourself from what the men in there say to keep your sanity anyhow!

And I bet if you keep looking you'll find a spot that will hire you. It may be a smaller club, but I promise you that if you keep trying you'll be able to make it!

You'll be fine. I'm on the shorter side, and I have a little bit of a tummy and definitely a generous bottom/thighs, and I found that there's a market for it! All guys don't like super-skinny types!

    Where did you audition?

Though I live in the city now I'm from your same county- south shore.

I can't remember the name of the club, I know it was somewhere in Suffolk.

I didn't do a good job, because I was a nervous wreck...and I haven't went on another audition since then.

Now I'm calmer and not so nervous...

    Then you should try again!

Even if you don't want to work there anymore-why not go back to the same club to really jump into the pool? Now when you get through it you'll have a nice sense of accomplishment knowing you did it there!!
