    Default Make-up face powder

Make-up gurus I need your help.

I NEVER wear powder over my foundation/base coz I hate that caked on dry look and feel that I get my powders.

However my make-up doesn't stay on at all well so im guessing I need to use some sort of powder.

Any suggestions? What are some good ones and how should they be applied so they don't give me that awful caked on dry look?

I love love love bare minerals esp. the mineral veil. I've been using it for years.
It's the only powder/foundation that stays on for along time and doesn't look caked on me.

I've found a lot of pressed powders and compacts can make my skin look terrible so I only use it minimally when I'm out.

Also, have you tried applying a primer before your foundation? It really helps to keep things stay put and smooths out imperfections. Smashbox has a great one.

how many ppl here use powder and not foundation?
I was thinking about doing that. But I wonder if it clogs pores as much as foundation.

Yeh i do use a primer but my t-zone is oily so I think my foundation slips off.

MAC loose blot powder. I love it! It keeps my face from looking shiny at work. I used the studio fix liquid underneath. It lasts forever.

I use a powder foundation, MAC's Mineralize Loose Foundation. It's the only mineral foundation that matches my skin.

For a powder that goes on top of foundation, I like Laura Mercier's Translucent Loose powder... It's the only truely pigment free one I've found so it keeps your foundation true to tone. Use it with a velour puff instead of a brush.

HD Powder from Make Up Forever is great for that. It only has one shade (clear), so you don't have to worry about if it will work with your skintone. It works on everyone, Irish-African American.

However, if getting your makeup to stay is what you want, you might want to consider Mist & Fix from Make Up Forever. It's a liquid spray that you put on your face that keeps all your makeup on all night! I love it. I mist it all over my face especially my eyes and my eyeshadow won't even rub off on a white shirt.

I use Mac concealer over any blemishes or discolorations, then lightly dust Mac studio fix foundation (powder) all over to set it. I've have comments from people who think I dont wear any make up. Heh heh heh.

Is this studio fix a foundation that turns to powder?

^^^ it's a traditional powder foundation, goes on dry but has flawless coverage with a matte finish.
