There's a bartender I work with at one of my clubs who is very pretty. She's an ex dancer and she does her best to keep guys at the bar, so she's not super popular with all the other girls. She will sit behind the bar wiping off the bottles suggestively while talking to the customers. There are several customers that come in just to see her, and while they are at the bar they don't pay attention to anyone else.
So anyway, apparently the other night it was totally slow and no one was making money. One of the bartender's customers offered her $300 to go up on stage for a set. She asked the other girls if that was OK, they said yes, and then she arranged it with the DJ and went up. Here's the thing, though. Her stage was showered with money. She was the only bartender working, so she must have exchanged $300-400 in ones for her customer.
After her set, another dancer got really, really pissed about it. Now, I don't know if I would be super pissed because I'm generally laid back to a fault. However, I do think she could have been more discreet about the money. She did exchange all those ones and she knew that they would make it rain and cause a spectacle. She was also pretty smug and giddy about it at the time. I wouldn't want to begrudge anyone their good luck of having a customer offer this huge amount for a three-song set, but maybe if you're a bartender you should just do your job and leave the stripping to the strippers.
Would you be pissed if a bartender did this? I'm wondering if that was a bitchy move or not. I personally don't know if I would be that mad, especially if it was just a rare occurrence. I asked my stripper friend about it though, and she thinks it was disrespectful to the dancers on shift.
