Alright, I've seen a ton of you financially smart people here, so I need some help/advice.
I'm looking to make some changes to my retirement plan, which is a 401k through Fidelity. Throughout the past few years, my plan had a really good rate of return ... consistently about 10-11%. This year ....not so much. I just got my Q2 statement and for the quarter, I'm -0.7%, but for the year, I am -7.6%. It appears that investments are rebounding/steadying, but I'd like something more agreesive.
Currently, I have 69% in stocks and 31% in bonds.
My stock funds are nothing all that exciting, just:
SSgA S&P500
SSgA EAFE Index C
And then I have a low-to-medium risk blended fund and a small percentage going towards bonds alone.
I'm only 28, make fairly good money, have no mortgage at the moment....I feel like I should be able to take greater risks for long-term investments. What has worked for you during this economy? Is there a fund you have had success with?
Also, not sure if it matters, but my company matches $ for $ PLUS 2% of my income on top of that. I feel I should take advantage of this.
