    Default Stripping VS. FAME?

This upcoming month I'm thinking about jumping into exotic dancing and I'm also a singer. I'm afraid of how my reputation will end up if I do follow through with stripping. I'm not ashamed at ALL about dancing, it's just the whole notation of how most people looking down on me or "downing" my name in their mouths making other people not like me because of the known "taboo". I know that it is up to me to decide but what would you do in my shoes? Would you go right ahead and strip but see what happens with singing or just stick with singing to avoid future bad rep?

    Please help.

Do both and keep your stripping job on a need to know basis. It's only someone elses business if you let it be so

If I thought I would be famous one day, I wouldn't want my familiy to know about it. As for your singing career, you may end up hurting it or helping it... depending on your target audience. Perhaps you should travel somewhere that doesn't require you to have some sort of license. That way, no one would be able to prove it.

eh.. pussycat dolls in a soft-core sorta way. gypsy rose lee sang and stripped.

The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above."

(speaking in terms of what-ifs) it's not like it would come out until you're really famous, unless you wanted it to. and even then, with all the celebrity sex-tapes out there, a stripper past would be old news in about um i don't know three seconds?

IMO, if you get famous someone, somewhere will air your dirty laundry, that's just the way it is. Embrace your past and never be ashamed of it.

Wasn't it Madonna who when nude pics of her came out was basically like "so what."

^ Exactly! Madonna's reaction was just like I'm not ashamed. If you do become famous for sure it will come out but how big of a deal it turns into totally depends upon your attitude.

I have a unique situation as well. I modeled professionally for 6+ years, and hosted an entertainment television show (aired weekly across Texas). Since it was my job to visit clubs/bars, and my face was on TV every week, everyone "knows me".

Even though I've been off the "scene" for a few years - I have already been recognized at the SC I work at.

Custie: "Aren't you _____ ? (my real name)
    Me:"No, who is that?"
Custie: You look EXACTLY like this girl who used to be all over Dallas and did a show..."
Me: "So, it that a compliment?"
    Custie: "F*ck ya"

LOL!! Oh well. I better get used to it. I may or may not confirm (I guess it depends on how comfortable I am with the particular customer).... Hell, it may even score me more $$$$$$$.

I'm a singer too but I don't want to be 'famous.' Fame today is different than what it was years ago. I'd much rather be rich and successful. If your genre isn't mainstream or expects you to be sexy in any way then it shouldn't matter. Porn, on the other hand, is another matter...

Or if you pose for Playboy or Penthouse (which is now softcore) you can always cut a deal with them to feature you, citing that they "discovered" you.

And if anyone found out, don't apologize for it. Pretend not to care or be proud!

I say go for it. Sometimes its the mistakes people make is what makes them famous.

I'd do it. I would make precautions by not posing for the club's advertisements and things like that, and like someone else said work somewhere without a license. But I think it's pretty unlikely you'd be found out, and even if you were these days it's not going to ruin you.

It depends. Who is your target audience? Will stripping work for or against you? Sometimes being an ex-stripper can enhance a career.

Lots of singers/actresses/models AND a writer have stripped, and I don't think anyone thinks it's a big deal. It's more like "Ooooh, she was an exotic dancer...kewl!" I certainly don't think it trashes anyone's name.

If/when you do become famous, certainly don't behave like you are ashamed of it. That's ridiculous. Just let it add to your sexiness and if you stand tall and confident it will reflect positively on yourself and strippers in general.

    Good luck!!

who knows... seems like stripping is becoming more and more accepted. maybe once you become famous it won't be that big of a deal?
