Default Mirena IUD- How long can you feel cramping for?

I had it inserted last week and feel slight cramping at times. Is this normal? And how many months does it take for periods to go away? I know not all people have their periods completely gone but I would love to hear from people who have had experience with this.

I have the paraguard, but my neighbor got the Mirena.

For me, the cramping lasted a little while, first week was yucky, and it got better after that.

For her, the cramping seemed to last longer, and her periods were really spotty. For here, they never totally went away.

My periods, are short but painful. Lots of cramping and they're rather heavy. But again, they're really short.

See what other girls say, but honestly, I think it all depends on how your body reacts to it.

That helps lots. Thank you! I didn't want to be the only one cramping for a week.

My cramps went away after a few days. Then I didn't get a period for 3 months. Now I'm sort of regular but I often get cramping without a period and sometimes I don't get a period for a few months. My cycle was regular for the first year and a half now its out of wack but as long as I don't get preggers I'm ok with that.
I've had it in almost 2 years.

I cramped really, really bad for the first day or two. Then the cramps gradually went away, but I think it took over a week for them to completely stop. I bled nonstop for three whole months and then the bleeding stopped.

I dont actually get cramps any more. Maybe a few sharps pains a few days before, kinda like contractions. Sometimes I will get a dull ache, but it doesn't last long and one advil takes care of it. I hardly get bloated now.

I cramped for two weeks post insertion. Spotting stopped total after about a month. I still get the occasional hard cramp as if my uterus is reminding me of the bullshit I'm putting it through.
