Default Coloring my own hair...wish me luck!

As I sit here, I have a stinking cap on my head.

Hopefully this will all go as planned- I won't be a stripper for much longer, so I need a cheaper way of being blonde! lol

I have an appt with my colorist tomorrow just in case it goes horribly, but I think I'm going to be ok. I bought two different shades of highlights (medium/honey and bleach) so hopefully this will work!

Wish me luck from the hair color gods!

First leg down (the honey color) and things are looking good!

Now I just have to wait for my 5lbs of hair to dry before I can start the next ones

Good Luck and let us know how it turns out. I'd love to save some money as well.

So, my hair looked so good just from the first kit I think I may just leave it like or, or do the other kit tomorrow but....

I CAN'T RECCOMMEND THIS PRODUCT ENOUGH!

I used Revlon Frost & Glow kit. Only $8 something at KMart. I used the med blonde/brown kit first (was planning to use the blonde/lightblonde kit after) and it PERFECTLY matches the $200 color foiling job I got a couple months ago. No weird tones, the cap didn't leopard spot my head, and I was able to do it all myself (the back with the help of a mirror, but still). VERY user friendly.

I'd definitely use this again to hide roots perfectly. I'll report back after the other kit, which I'm doing to light my color a little lighter.

My base color is a pretty dark brown. I have it highlighted with prettyy light foils, and this color matched the old highlights perfectly. I'll take a pic tomorrow, and even show an after of the second kit.

Good luck!!! I know you said you already started but if you got another batch then here's a cool little bleaching tip for you....dump a packet of that yellow Extra sugar packet into the mix and the bleach won't burn your scalp as much

Oh okay...so you're a natural brunette! Cute! Me too.

It is so hard to find a colorist that can safely and beautifully take dark or black hair to blond. Outside of NY and LA, it seems impossible.

I'm glad you were able to duplicate the result at home.

Aww, thanks I was so nervous lol

Will report back after the superblonde goes in!

Ytdy I only used every other circled hole in the cap to put some honey in, but not a ton. Today I'll use every one, all over to make sure I'm a lot lighter.

Not out of the woods yet lol

It looks so great! Wow.... I always hilite other peoples hair but I am too scared to do my own.

I might have to do a test run with the cap and some conditioner to see if I can brush it in the right spots.

That looks so pretty and summery.

    Me like!

So when I re-did my hair with the second kit it STILL wasn't enough, so I decided to do the whole bleach-tone double process thing.

Went to Ricky's, bought the professional grade shit, but the way they sold their haircolor confused me so I went to Duane Reade just to see what they had. I ended up finding a single process color called Dream Blonde that claimed on the box that it would lighten my hair a TON while giving it the pretty color on the box. I fell for it- It wasn't really much to make me chicken out of the bleach process anyway, I've done that before and it reallllllly freaks me out.

So, now my hair is abou the color of that Mac N Cheese Crayola crayon, but its kinda growing on me. I'm going to put more white blonde in next week after spending this whole week deep conditioning. Hopefully that will tone down *some* of the brassiness/orangeyness.

It looks really great! If you want to tone down the brassiness then you should def try Clairol Shimmerlights Shampoo/Conditioner once a week. Its purple and takes out brassiness soooo good, when I go blonde I swear by the stuff because I get brassy.

    Aubreyy, you've inspired me..

I'm a salon ONLY girl and have been paying 250+ on my hair for about 10 years.

I'm over it. Today, I purchased the revlon frost and glow kit and after dinner, I'm going to give it a try.

I'm sorry for the thread-jack, but I didnt want to start another one about the same topic.

I'll be posting photos shortly. Wish me luck.

I look forward to an update from you. I'm thinking about coloring my own hair and I'm procrastinating out of nervousness.

    Ok....

Got the hair through the cap and CHICKENED OUT!!

It was difficult to make sure that the same amount of hair was pulled through all of the holes and the cap made my head sweat like crazy. That was probably my fault becuase I really was trying to make sure that it was as perfect as I could make it.

I finally had all of the hair pulled thru the cap and found myself just staring at myself in the mirror.

    I just couldnt do it.

Aubreyyys hair looks so pretty and maybe if I would have actually added the product, mine would have too..

I just started thinking about the "What if's" and couldnt pull the trigger.

Sorry for the threadjack! Cheers to girls with guts!
