When we tell noobs about the search function, maybe include links to a thread or two that might be helpful?

When we tell noobs about the search function, maybe include links to a thread or two that might be helpful?

this has been discussed and beaten to death. TM said earlier that no more 'site issues' type posts are allowed in the lounge. maybe this doesnt qualify but it seems like it would to me.

Sorry, it wasn't a complaint. Just a suggestion. I've followed some threads, but not all.
i think that's great. people have been doing that a little bit.
NEW POSTS!!!!!!!!!

dont apologize to me. i wasnt trying to be snippy or anything. im just saying that she said that earlier.
but i do just want to comment on this.. thats exactly what i said in the last thread about searching. if you're telling someone to do a search, you dont need to search for them.
here ill refer them all to this thread.

Just my opinion of course, but I find the search function on this site sucks! For example, search "stripping videos" and you get a whole lot of crap.
Just thought it would be more helpful to find a thread or two for them as they get acquainted to the site.
Either way doesn't really matter........
You have to use advanced search in order to have it be worth anything at all

It's something I think would be helpful and positive for the site but I'm not going to make a huge stink about it. That's all.

Good idea. Thanks.

I use advanced search and check search titles only. Searching through all posts brings up too many unrelated threads. And select what section you want to search through. A thread called "Best Lapdance Ever!" will be waaay different on the blue side than it would be in Stripping General.![]()

Thanks for your suggestions, Perry! Maybe when we tell members about the search function, we could add those details. I'm sure it would be most helpful.

I agree with both sides, so I try to either
a) Provide one link to a helpful thread to get them started
or
b) provide a link to the search I did to help them with search terms.(or provide some suggested search terms)
Depends on the mood I'm in. if I'm not in a helpful mood I try to just not reply, because if all I have to say is "do a search!", then that really doesn't contribute. I'm sure if nobody responds they'll find their way to the search function anyways.
well once youve been so kind to share your search function knowlage with 40 newbies in a couple months, youll be much less patient. trust me.

Well, i used to be helpful quite a lot and over 3 years probably helped that many newbies. However, the reason I haven't been lately is because I would probably be snippy too, so I refrain.
These threads do not force you to open them. So if you see it's a thread that has already been answered and you're annoyed, press "back". Problem solved![]()
or how about, if a post annoys you cause someone didnt use the search function just dont respond to their post.
simple enough.

i love how its mostly the newbs that are annoyed that their hands arent being held.

That's what I was getting at Jenna, thanks![]()
hmm im gonna retract my above comment.
it DOES get annoying to see some of the same questions asked over and over.
But i dont see what we can do really. As more and more newcomers come in, this is bound to keep coming up.

SIGH.

Why retract it? It was a good point.
