Default I need to dye some white fabric another colour??

I have a skirt that I love to wear at work and it's white but it is stained and I have bleached it and nothing seems to get the stains out.

So Im thinking of dyeing it another colour but I'm not sure how to do this or what dye to buy???

Im thinking of colouring it either pink or light purple.

At fabric place, wall mart, cvs, I have seen it at 711 here in town they have fabric pigments.
    1) All that you have to do is heat up about half a gallon of water when its starts boiling turn it off
2)Pour the dye which is a powder make sure you stir until all of it is dissolved
    3) Put the skirt in the pan, now depending on the fabric you can let the water cool off a bit for like 5 minutes so the fabric won't shrink...
(Don't ever use your washer machine to dye clothes because it'll stain your next loads) ...
4)And make sure you rinse well in cold water after letting the skirt sit for like ten minutes in the solution and next time you wash, hand wash it to make sure won't stain your clothes, after that you can use the washer no problem
Needless to say, putting up with that type of stuff can take its toll psychologically

I don't think you can dye lycra? Isn't that the spandex material. I only see those fabric dyes working for cotton.

    really??

Im also open to suggestions on getting the stains out. I've tried soaking it in Napisan and I've also soaked it in bleach and neither worked. It looks like a big ink stain - I dont even know how it got on the skirt.

"lycra" fabrics are actually only about 5-10% elastane/spandex/lycra, usually combined with a synthetic in dancer clothes.
If it's nylon with lycra it will take dye well and turn out bright with with the little tins of Dylon dye you can get all over the place (assuming they're all over the place in Oz as they are here). However, nylon also loses dye quite readily so you will want to wash it separately after it's dyed and it may fade after a while.
If the fabric is polyester/lycra it will turn out more of a pastel colour and the stains may still be visible after it's dyed.

^that's what i was worried about the stains being visible, or the color not being even all over.

To make sure it dyes as evenly as possible the trick is to use a very big dye pot and make sure the clothing is covered completely in dye liquid. As for the stains, well, it's really hard to know what will happen when you dye something that's stained - it seems to depend on what caused the stain. I've seen strange things happen with sweat.

    Try hairspray on the stain.

Seconding this suggestion. I know it's not the same situation, but I got a huge ink stain on a purse, and tons of hair spray took that right out.
