Marasmus ... "Ladies don't fart. They butt-laugh."
Marasmus says, "Oh no, that wasn't gas, it was merely a rectal chuckle."
Marek says, "A friend of mine got punched in the face by a dominatrix stripper about two weeks ago and I thought of you."

ROFL !
Now all he needs is a statue of a chick squirting baby cows out her vajayjay and his anime rodeo collection will be complete![]()
Oddly enough, I find the expression and proportions of his face much more disturbing than the sperm lasso.

I agree L&L. I hate seeing 13million dollars go to some statue of a guy jerking off. Ugh
I kinda like it!

It's definitely a conversation piece, I'll give it that much.
Where would you PUT a statue like that? Front lawn? Kitchen?
I feel like I'm looking at child porn.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

mmmmmm hawt
That's a piece by Takashi Murakami. 'Superflat' is the genre of Japanese modern art he's created. I saw this exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art; it's either currently or just was at the Brooklyn Museum of Modern Art.
He is the same person who designed the rainbow-lettered LV handbags. He also designed the art for Kanye West's album Graduation. A lot of his art is focused on the ideas of 'hypercuteness'.
He is a lot like Andy Warhol in the way he creates and markets art. He has a factory in Japan and has been resposible for bringing a lot of the younger generation of Japanese artists to the spotlight.
I get why people are weirded out by it, but he is one of the most innovative and important East/West modern artists out there right now.
Here is a really beautiful piece by him
Here's a 40' statue by him
...I guess it's all the context. I mean, in the same exhibit where I saw this statue, they were also selling a suitcase suite of like 3 dozen of his LV handbags in a steamer trunk for half a million dollars. It's the art world. Of course with the thread title it makes it sound a lot more bizarre.
Takashi Murakami (村神上隆 Murakami Takashi?, born 1 February 1963 in Tokyo, Kantō region), is a prolific contemporary Japanese artist who works in both fine arts media, such as painting, as well as digital and commercial media. He attempts to blur the boundaries between high and low art. He appropriates popular themes from mass media and pop culture, then turns them into thirty-foot sculptures, "Superflat" paintings, or marketable commercial goods such as figurines or phone caddies.
It is a Murakami art piece, which explains the price! This artist made all the manga-kawai styling for Louis Vuitton, with the colored monogram, the cherries and the strange cute three-eyed creatures.
There is a similar art pice with a big boobed girl who has tons of milk coming out of her tits!
I'd buy it though, I'd love it in my bathroom so I can hang my towels on, lol!
Yay, a fellow Murakami art lover!(and first post, welcome.
)
Yeah, the price is understandable with the context... kind of like those crazy 8' tall Jeff Koons statues of like balloon animals that go for 10s of millions...

Thanks, anomar! I clicked on the link and I thought, "That's not 'anything,' it's a Murakami sculpture!"
so, basically, it's a $15 million investment that you can marvel at every day. That doesn't sound so bad in that context.

Murakami = Japanese Jeff Koons!
Because there ain't no tits on the radio
...if by 'marvel' you mean 'jerk it'!!!![]()

Is this still at the Brooklyn Museum? That's museum #3764876438 I'm dragging my boyfriend to this week.

^^^
omg ME fucking TOO!
In fact, I think I'll watch some now![]()
I like the statue, but umm...well not for that price..hehe
Off topic didn't Murakami do a collection of bags for Louis Vuittion? I think I have one... I mean, I know I have (one of the bags) but not sure if he was the artist...with the smiling cherries? Anybody know? Its like three years old I can't remember
