don't drink a lot of coffee before you do it!
steady hands. i don't have any tips other than use a really good quality polish that is thin and smooth so you don't get lumps, and don't get one of those fast drying ones either, you want to be able to even out the application before it dries. if that makes any sense.
I always did my own french manicures for work, before I just got fed up and started chopping off my nails and just keeping them clean and buffed.
"Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above."

Paint the tips white but dont worry about being neat. Then, take a small brush and dip it in acetone. Remove the unwanted polish making a curved (C) shape. Then take a clear pink and paint in the area that does not have white. I do my manicure all the time. I get so many compliments, because people think I went to a salon.

i've also seen french mani kits at the drugstore. sally hansen makes 'nail guides' that you use so it comes out really even. they also have 'pens' but i've never used them.

I buy plastic press-ons and glue them on each week
voila, $5 perfect french mani
i gave in and went to the salon! haha.

i use tape. paint then take the tape off. straight line!

I used those strip guides before, but when i peeled them off the line came out crooked! I guess I didn't let it dry long enough?
The way bellasera described it is the way that i had it done at a salon once... but I couldn't find a flat curved brush like the one he used.... where do you get a brush like that?

^^^
I've used a concealer brush. The ones they use in the salons they buy at art stores... but they look JUST like a concealer brush.

wicked, thanx!
Trial & error really.. sometimes I have to do mine 2ce to get them looking right
Scotch Tape Is The Secret!

But when you use tape don't you get a straight line instead of a natural "C" shape?
The nail guides are terrible. They always seem to peel off some polish with it. I use the brush & acetone method mentioned above. Here's a really good youtube video on it:
cool, maybe next tile ill try and do it myself. watching her do it really helped too.

I hate the guides, I just freehand it. Some good tips on here though.
I personally like O-P-I polish the best, it really is worth the extra money to me. Also if you paint a little bit underneath the nails, it will help it go loner without chipping.
I do that too! Then I would polish over the whole shebang with either clear, or for a different look, light pink and then clear. There's a little ridge where the tip starts, but it looks great, and you can go really long or file them down short.
Well, that is, until my right middle fingernail fell off after I slammed my hand in my car trunk. I'm not doing anything until my nail grows back cuz it looks pretty jacked up at the moment...
