    Default Bored with hair

My hair is naturally super straight and thin, I'm bored with the look but don't really know how to try different styles. My hair is wavy after if dries from swimming, I like the way it looks but don't know how to re-create it. Any advice? Sort of like a crimp but more natural..

    like this..

Use a curl enhancing product or light gel on damp hair... Haphazardly twist peices to make different size "dreads". Air dry. Run fingers through "dreads' t break them up.

when hair is wet damp "scrunch" with curl defining mousse... I used to use gel and once it dried my hair would get flaky. I now use Aussie's scrunching spray when it's wet and just scrunch it several times while it dries...

Do the ladies that posted have at least a little wave to your hair or super stick straight hair and you can get it to stay wavy like that? My hair is naturally straight and no matter what I do to it it really doesn't hold curl. I have tried the wave enhancing gels and mousses then scrunching it while wet but it really never seemed to work-- I always thought they were meant for people who had wavy or curly hair. If you guys have straight hair and can get it to work maybe I'm doing something wrong?

my hair is mostly straight... and I use the curl enhancing stuff... I just apply a good amount and scrunch it several times as my hair dries. My friend who naturally has wavy hair gets more of a curl out of these products... but by scrunching several times as it dries gives me some texture

I use a big waver like this one:

I use it very loosely so the waves don't look too deliberate, then spray with a texturizer, then shake it out to loosen the waves and make it look piece-y. I use Sally Hershberger Shagg Spray.

I used to just use a waving spray, but I like this look better.

i just discovered the hershberger shagg spray and actually did a search to see if anyone had mentioned it before.

    i. love. this. stuff.

i have thin fly-away type hair and with my short layered cut, sometimes the heavier wax based products can weigh it down too much. also, since my hair is naturally curly (i flat-iron it) the water based waxes tend to give it too much wave.

the shagg spray is light-weight and makes my layers all shag-riffic and healthy looking. lovelovelove. i've used a billion texture promising sprays and gave up on them. i tried this on a whim because the store was out of my normal redken grit-wax (which i also love, but is too heavy sometimes).

i do a straighter more subtle-piecey style, but it would be easy to create waves with it like lola says.
