Default Well I went to the doc today and he mentioned the C word

I have been having some odd pain near my breast, under pit area, it's been going on for a week and it's not muscular because it doesn't hurt if I lift anything but it feels like a clogged duct, like a cig is being put out in that area. Well it didn't get better so I went to teh doc and his face changed and he tells me " well although you are so young there is this rare cancer" I didn't hear anything after that, I nearly passed out. I have been in bed all day, B stayed home and I am getting a chest xray and blood work. So Can you spare some good vibes my way because I think this is just a bad dream. Thank you.

It could be benign, if it's a tumor. Or a fatty corpuscle.

I don't think he should have said rare. I mean, any cancer scare is terrifying, but young women are diagnosed a lot nowadays too. My cousin had breast cancer (is in full remission after a very short time) and she's only 30 something.

    You're in my prayers sweetie.

I dunno T but I still think unless it's 100 % not a damn mention of it should be told, and how they say t it's like as if you have an ear infection, dude no! I my bio dad died from cancer and ugh I wish I could have a drink! I just have to think it's just so impossible right, it is it ain't that, just probably a nerve or something.

Could be so many things. It's right for your doctor to run tests ASAP but too early to assume the worst. Thinking positive for you.

Yeah thanks X. I didn't really the hint til my friend called me and said what's wrong? and I broke down. Last year she had the same thing happen so she knows how it feels and also hates the fact that the worst is mentioned like that.

    i will keep you updated.

No bedside manner at all! I had that same thing happen to me with an abnormal pap smear. All I heard was cancer, my dad and sister both gone to the big C, the doc knew this and told me this over the phone and I lost it! All turned out well though.

Sending mega good vibes your way HHL! When are you getting more tests done?

No point in thinking the worst right now HHL. The diagnosis isn't certain, and the treatment, let alone the outcome is not even on the table for discussion at this point.

You can handle this...I've seen what you are made of.

Thanks I spoke to my foster parents who are docs and mom said she thinks it could be a fatty thing like Temp said, you go girl! anyway they told me that the reason they say it is because they rather get to the worst possible scenario and do test before they start from the bottom and I guess later on when it's too late discover the worst.

Now they want to be informed on everything ASAP and I will make the apt for all the tests tomorrow morning. I feel better now but man it is so scary! Thanks for the love.

On the other note, a few months ago
i had probs in the abdomen area, well more of uterine area and after all the test and stuff ended being my urethra was tight so when they did a catheter it stretched it a bit and the pain is no more, plus they gave me some meds for the pain a while back and I haven't taken them in a long time and don't feel the uncomfortable pain. Tempest has been here for me through all my med crap and I thank you so much.

    I will keep everyone updated.

Oh also can you spare some good thoughts for Bailey, the Siamese, she's got kidney failure and I have to take her in to the vet in the AM cause she has been not going in the litter and been puking, so yay

    Again thanks so much.

Walk gently, HHL, you have many friends holding you in the light.

Give Bailey a scritch and lots of loving too. She's lucky to have you.

Yes, this has been my understanding as well. Start the process of elimination by tackling the worst case scenario first.

I'll be wishing for speedy test results and good news on your behalf so that you and those closest to you will be able to find peace of mind promptly.

I have not been on for a few days or would have responded to this sooner.

I don't know if you know this about me. I have mentioned it here and there in threads where it seemed appropriate, but I know everyone does not read every message I post. But I am a thirteen year prostate cancer survivor.

I remember full well when I was told. The first hint had come when I took my physical to take my Boy Scout troop to camp. My PSA ( a chemical produced by the prostate) was elevated. It could be trauma, disease, or prostate cancer. If it was an injury, it would go back to normal in a few weeks. But it didn't. If it was a disease, it would be cured by this antibiotic. But it wasn't.

So, they did needle biopsies. A few days later, my doctor (by this time I had a urologist) called me at school. In those days we did not have phones in our classrooms, so I had to take the phone in the office. He said some of the biopsies looked malignant, and my knees went weak and I had to sit down on the secretary's chair. Then I called my wife and told her. The rest of the day is a blur. I don't even know if I went back and finished teaching the rest of the day.

I won't go through telling all the possible treatments I considered, because they will not be the same for you. I eventually settled on surgery as being the most likely to get rid of all the cancer. It changed my life in the process of saving it. Today they have much better treatments for prostate cancer that do not have as drastic side effects, but I did not have the cancer today. I had it then.

As a cancer survivor, I've gotten to know lots of other cancer survivors, including some ladies who had breast cancer. Caught early, it is an easy cancer to cure by a variety of ways which your doctor should explain to you, not me. Even if surgery is elected, it is rare any more that they take the entire breast, and reconstructive surgery can make it look as good or better than new.

If you do indeed have cancer, you will have to make some difficult choices, but the choice to do nothing should not be one of them. Like prostate cancer, breast cancer is easy to take care of if caught early, but if you let it go and it metastasizes, things will be most unpleasant.

In my case, I had to weigh the possibilities of becoming incontinent and impotent with the alternative of possibly dying in agony, which happened to my friend's father-in-law. Then, on a prostate cancer support message board, someone told me this: dead men don't have sex, either. So, I decided to have the treatment that, at that time, was most likely to get all the cancer, and it did. I didn't become incontinent, either, but my ability to have intercourse was greatly diminished. My wife and I found alternative ways of pleasing each other, and she says she would rather have me alive.

Here are the URLs of some breast cancer support web sites. I suggest you go there now, where you will find other women who know exactly what you are going through and will be able to give you better advice than we can here.

And, watch for a PM from me. You are in my prayers. At this point, you have still not been diagnosed, so we will pray that you do not have cancer and that what you do have will be easy to treat. God bless you and B.

Thank you UtahMike. You are a wonderful soul. I am so sorry you had to go through all this and I am so glad you are a survivor and are here because you are one of the most wonderful people I have had the pleasure of speaking to via online.

    You are an inspiration love.

    Update on Bailey

It's worst, her kidneys so special food will be given and they give her about a year She over night had a massive hairball and they think this was the problem for her puking. I will pick her up later and hug her and kiss her from all of you who love her.

I don't want to add to the pressure you're under but don't let anyone rush you into any decisions about treatment. We've all read the reports of mis diagnoses
due to incorrect lab results. This scares my wife and I more than the potential of the disease itself. Best wishes for benign results and a positive outcome!
