There's a woman I work with who likes to use a beautiful medium purple for eyeshadow. She puts it on real thick, as if she was using it wet, and she uses a lot of it. Sort of an 80's look, actually. Very glam. I *LOVE* it.
When I asked her what kind it was, she said it was MAC. So yesterday I went to Mac and got a white and a purple (she said she used two colors and blended them herself). I tried to use them last night for work, and the colors were just not dark enough. I wasn't sure that these particular shadows could be used wet. The guy at the counter apparently didn't quite understand what I meant when I explained how the shadow looked on the woman.
I went to a different MAC, this time a counter in a Macy's and the lady told me that this particular eyeshadow can't be used wet or it will look terrible. She did show me a glittery shadow that can be used wet.. but I SWEAR this girl's shadow was not glittery at all - just a solid color. I couldn't return this shadow at the counter, have to return it at the mall near my club where I bought it.
The MAC counter lady suggested I try Sephora there for a darker shadow. The makeup lady at Sephora was helpful except she completely dismissed my "I don't want any glitter!!" and continued to put it on me, saying it wouldn't come off on anyone. Ya, right. After she took the stuff off me with makeup remover I still have glitter on my cheekbones. I could see it reflected in the sunlight off the inside of my glasses. Then I touched my face and it was still coming off on my finger.
So I didn't buy anything at Sephora.
Anyone have any suggestions on what brand of shadow to use that will give me the look I want?
