I guess we need a Summer Olympics thread.
Anybody watching/watch the opening ceremonies? Impressive.
NBC is apparently streaming 2200 hours of the Olympics on nbcolympics.com. I may need to give that a try at work next week.

2,008 Chinese girls dancing in go go boots for three hours. Best. Olympics. Ever.

Weren't the Chinese being portrayed as a non-violent people?

"BEIJING - The murder of the father of a former Olympian at a Beijing landmark cast a sad shadow over the first full day of Olympic competition Saturday, just hours after China's jubilant opening of the Summer Games. "

I was watching the opening ceremonies, and I was concerned about the guy hoisted into the air fake running around the rim of the stadium. At one point he got ahead of the unrolling carpet image he was supposed to be "running" on. The crane guy put the brakes on...then the guy got a little too far behind. I had a brief thought that the crane operator might have bought himself a date with the firing squad.![]()
I think of myself as a diehard sports fan. But for some reason, I haven't caught Olympic fever yet. I did think it was pretty cool watching the road cyclists ride through Beijing though. And beach volleyball is always nice!

I only caught about a half hour of the opening ceremonies before I got bored with it.
So did the grand finale feature a mass execution of 2,008 state police executing 2,008 condemned men by firing squad to promote national unity followed by 2,008 organs being harvested?
Hmm, maybe they're saving that for the closing ceremonies.
As for what sports to watch, well, unless its indoors, whats the point? You won't be able to see the competition through all the pollution.
Former SCJ now in rehab.

Very nice, Docido.
Is the ability to generate boners an Olympic sport? If so, here's a potential gold medalist, Paraguayan javelin thrower Leryn Franco (saw her in the opening cermonies). Javelin thrower? How about javelin swallowing?
When did all these hot chicks start particpating in sports? So much better than rooting for lesbians shaped like washing machines.

Cheerleaders at the beach volleyball venue practicing a couple of days before the opening.
I've said it before: Is there any event that isn't instantly improved by the presence of cheerleaders?

Cheerleading should be an Olympic sport.
I think the Brazilian gymnastics team will do well.

I have a pole she can vault.
Those cut women are hot. I am glad they are fit but don't look like guys on steroids.

Once again I have embraced my addiction and have put off the moral dilemma to another day.
