    Default natural beauty.

i'm not sure if there is a compiled thread with all this info in there, but i am very very curious... what are some natural things you can use for your everyday beauti routines??? by natural, i mean natural. fruits/veggies/oats... anything you would find at your local health food store really.

Drink lots of water. Add a pinch of celtic sea salt (or Himalayan) per liter of water.

i'm really looking for things like:

    coffee on skin = firming

stuff like that. (not sure if that coffee thing is right, just an example.)

^^^ I make my own sugar scrubs for the winter... just brown sugar and olive oil. Keeps me soft and supple through the cold months.

I'll also do honey and sugar masks once in a while... works double duty as a face scrub and both ingredients are anti bacterial & anti inflamatory. Just rub it around for a little bit then let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Warning: Pets will follow you around the house.

I'm big into using natural stuff, so I'm looking forward to what others have to say...

I use avocado as a facial mask- it's moisturizing and the healthy oils in it don't make me break out. Just mash 1/2 of an avocado, apply like a mask, rinse off after 15 mins. You will look like the Hulk, and the other half of the avocado is yummy for guacamole!

Tea tree oil or lemon juice are great for getting rid of pimples. Just apply a bit onto a q tip, then onto the pimple before bed. Usually gone in one or two nights.

I use honey and sea salt as a scrub (bonus points to use natural honey with the propolis and goodies left in it!) on my face. I use coconut oil and sea salt as a scrub on my body. (makes it soooo soft)

Also, lemon juice can be using as a lightening agent on acne scars, dark spots, etc. Just apply where needed and leave it on.

    1. baking soda = face scrub
    2. coconut oil or castor oil = moisturizer and great for calluses when used with socks overnight!
    3. water plus the salt (drinking) = keeps your insides clean, privides minerals (beauty), hydrates skin so it's clear and smooth
    4. clay (many kinds sold in health food stores) = mask to cleanse pores
    5. tea tree oil = antifungal that's good for skin and scalp problems

Some of these have been mentioned already. But I agree with them!
dry skin brush = use all over body to stimulate the lymph and slough the dead skin

I second the dry skin brushing! Been doing it twice a week for about 5 years and always get compliments on my 'glow' and soft skin.

I looove baking soda. As a face scrub, it makes my skin silky soft. I think there's something in the PH balance that makes a difference. Baking soda is also wonderful in a bath.

I love coconut oil but I want to say that I really don't think its good to shave with. A lot of girls love it, but the couple of times I tried it I got horrible razor burn. I do love coconut oil for moisturizing though.

Ya know when you buy runny honey, and it goes all grainy towaards the bottom? I use that grainy honey as a face scrub, feels bliss.

Rosemary steeped in water is meant to be good for shiny brunnette hair too.

Baking Soda + Water rinse = to wash oily hair
Vinegar + Water rinse = happy shiney hair
Rosemary Tea rinse = pretty shiney auburn hair and enhances curliness
    Coconut Oil = soft skin
Alder leaf poultice = bye bye, pimple

In the summer I use leftover watermelon along with a very ripe banana on my skin. I mash them together, leave on skin for 5-10 minutes. Really freshens up my skin and gives it a sexy glow. I do that about twice a week.

In the fall I use pumpkin. I am so not fond of pumpkin insides but it really purges the skin. I love using it as a mask. However if you leave it on too long (more than 15 minutes) it can tint your face slightly orange for a day.

I use beer on my hair to keep it shiny and boucy. Not really 'natural' but it really works. Just pour it on, leave it for a few minutes then rinse with cool water. Seems to help with split ends too.

I use coconut oil for many things such as a mouth rinse for brightening and for dry skin. I also once a week use it as a hair mask before shampooing.

Peaches are good for detoxing the skin. I mash it up with some baby oatmeal and slather it on, wait 15-20 minutes and rinse off with some tepid water.

Witch hazel is a good toner for oily skin or during humid weather.

In all honesty, if there is a leftover fruit from lunch or dinner I will probably mash it up and put it on. Besides being a skin care junkie (and I hate wasting food!) I am completely anal about my skin and what I put on it.

Plain Oatmeal- A face mask. It exfoliates as you rub it in and moisturizes when left for a few minutes. 2-in-1

Avocados- To add moisture to damaged hair. Mash up one decent sized avocado, and apply to hair. Tie on something that won't let air in (shower cap, grocery bag) and wait at least twenty minutes.

Mayo- Another way to add moisture to hair. I haven't tried this one, but I heard it works.

My best friend growing up always ground up oatmeal in a food processor until it was almost a powder and mixed it with water for both a face wash and mask. It really helped with her acne without drying her out!
I am in love with citrus! Rubbing a cut citrus on your elbows and heels helps get rid of flaky skin...also I posted this as a reply to someone's sunless question, but dipping a cut lemon into sugar or salt strips sunless products.
Mayo in your hair will leave you smelling mayo for quite a while...so be careful, haha.
Coffee grinds from a coffee maker can help gloss or deepen the color of brown hair...my mom used to do that during the 70s.
One of my hairdresser friends uses olive oil on her hair. Sometimes she'll even sit in the sun with it in so the heat helps it penetrate...she was especially hopeful when she had her extensions in - she'd use it on the ends only and them braid her hair so it wouldn't affect the bonds.
